Every anime lover and manga reader has heard about Vinland Saga at some point. The manga was first published in 2005, 13th April, and the latest chapters are still being published to this day. As for the anime, the first season premiered in July 2019, and the status is still ongoing.
The manga gained a massive amount of popularity since the anime started airing. The main themes of this series are historical and adventure, highlighting the lifestyle of Vikings back then.
The plot revolves around a young boy named Thorfinn who grows up listening to many kinds of stories from the elders.
The story focuses on a utopian land called, Vinland, where no violence ever takes place, and people do not fight there, unlike his birthplace, Iceland, where war brews every time. Sometimes, the stories worked as a kind of consolation for children to be warm and fertile.
In Iceland, people have no choice but to live a mercenary to sustain the needs of their survival. And for our young Thorfinn, he is quite attached to his family, especially to his father. His father often gives him lessons and tells stories.
Also, his father teaches about the necessities of life as he has no enemies and it is not right to hurt anyone.
Since his father’s demise, many things have taken place, as Thorfinn has been on the verge of avenging his father’s death and getting into various mercenary groups. He has a firm motive for killing Askeladd, the man who killed his father.
On the other hand, there is a war going on between England and the Danes, putting the Vikings at an advantage as they can choose to remain with any side. Not only that, they can also gain names for them and treasures in the process.
It seems Viking mercenaries are the only ones who can make a profit out of such a bloody war. The whole plot is set in 11th-century Europe; the manga gives a vivid description of death, violence, and cruel warfare.
Recap and Review of Chapter 206
Thorfinn, the son of one of the greatest Viking warriors, decides to leave the island before unnecessary bloodshed is inevitable. And then, in the beginning of chapter 206, we see a Nord woman is about to give birth to a baby.
It is 10 days early for her, and she is in excruciating pain. The nurses of the woman tell his son, Karli, and Cordelia to get out of the place because they are men.
In the meantime, Karli is told to stay at Cordelia’s place to spend the night, but Karli is too excited for his baby sibling to be born and eventually falls asleep.
Cordelia takes him up on his lap, and Karli’s dog accompanies them to Cordelia’s house. The moment they are about to set off, Cordelia notices some disturbance in the far distance.
On closer examination, he sees his neighbor is getting mercilessly slaughtered by a tribe. The tribe invades his house to look for a long knife and valuables.
In the process, they also leave his wife on the verge of death. But when they could not find the item, they were looking for, they decided to search other houses.
Witnessing the violence, Cordelia is panicked while carrying Karli. Then we see the Mu’in tribe is having a discussion among them regarding an upcoming invasion. Puowin says they are going to hold off their attack until Spring, when the Mayflowers bloom and Thorfinn will then leave the island.
However, a fellow tribe member opposes his idea, saying it would be foolish to give the Nords more than a year time. Mu’in also has the motive of taking the big knife.
Thorfinn and his companion are clueless about what is going on as they cannot understand their language, but a girl in the tribe helps them by talking in their language.
Miskwekepu’j and Mu’in’s argument soon results in conflict among their tribal members; some agree with Puowin that they should hold off their attack, also because the Nords have the disease, while some are too eager to fight acknowledging what Mu’in says.
It seems they are ultimately going to attack the Nords, so Thorfinn and Einar quickly flee from the scene because if they don’t, Miskwekepu’j and Mu’in will kill them.
Einar says to Thorfinn only he has the right to decide on leaving the island, and the enemies are everywhere. Thorfinn says the Lnu is not their enemy; someone only becomes an enemy if only they think about it. Then suddenly, an arrow comes in their direction and the chapter ends there.

Spoilers and Speculations for Chapter 207
The Lnu tribe is dominating the Nords, plundering their lands and stealing their properties. They have this agenda in their mind that they have to retrieve a long knife.
But Puowin, a tribe member, advises them to halt their attack for the time being. It seems many members do not agree with his proposal, and they would rather fight. So, at this point, the annihilation of the Nords starts taking place.
In the next chapter, we will see our protagonist, Thorfinn, fighting against the Lnu tribes as they are suddenly attacked by them.
Thorfinn is very opposed to resorting to any violence, but it does not seem like they can get out of the place without getting their hands bloody.
Also, Thorfinn is supposed to leave the island, but the ambush is now going to make this hard for Thorfinn as he has to fight his way off. So, will he be able to escape from the island according to his plan? Or will he be held captive by the Lnu tribe?
