Victoria Adeleye, popularly known as Vee, recently talked about her past relationship with Neo Akpofure, who is now her ex-boyfriend. Neo and Vee were contestants in Big Brother Naija season 5. They both fell for each other, started dating inside the show, and pulled their relationship outside the show as well.
BB Ninja season 5 was aired in July 2020 during the first lockdown. This season of the show was a hit and acclaimed with more love compared to the previous ones. It was acclaimed by Vee that she fell for Neo in the show and made her shot, which led to being in a relationship inside the show.
Both the contestants were good friends before getting into a relationship, a relationship that is now considered a regretful decision by Vee. She admitted that she regrets continuing this relationship even after the show; in fact, she should have ended it inside or just after leaving the show, which would have left both of them on good terms and they still would have been friends.
Why did Vee and Neo break up?
Usually, celebrities are a highly emphasized matter for the public. Especially if they’ve been a part of any show, then people follow up on their lives. This had an impact on Vee as well; it was said by her that social pressure and public scrutiny played a big role in their relationship. While going through all this, she felt relatable to Neo, particularly when they were inside BBNaija during lockdown, and this brought them closer.
According to Vee, the biggest obstacle that her relationship with Neo faced was Tolani Baj. Tolani was a part of the All Stars Show, in which Neo was also a contestant. Her presence and expression of feelings towards Neo made Vee insecure, but her reaction was labeled as overthinking.
Tolani was witnessed expressing her feelings for Neo, and both of them had a few intimate moments on the show as well, but his connection with Tolani didn’t continue because of his involvement with another contestant, IIebaye.
Tolani and IIebaye were not the only obstacles that Vee had to face in her relationship; Neo’s cousin, Venita Akpofuro, was also a reason behind their breakup. During a conversation on X (formerly Twitter) with a user, Vee expressed that while she was with Neo, Venita’s action had caused her distress.
Vee always had issues with Venita, and those issues could also be the reason behind her breakup with Neo. The hatred between them is still there, and it is clear from the statements made by Vee, where she stated that she won’t forgive Venita even if she apologizes, as she does not want to be around any negative energy.
How was the relationship between Vee and Neo?
BBNaija season 5 was aired on July 19, 2020. Vee and Neo were the housemates in the lockdown hit season of the show, and Vee shot her shot at Neo, which led them to start dating each other inside the show. They continued dating each other even after the show, and the couple became famous among the public.
The couple were expected to go further as the progress in their relationship was predicted by the audience, but it seems that case was not holding the same thought on the couples side as they didn’t last after Neo was spotted being intimate with Taloni and IIebaye.
After their breakup, Veena said, “I shot my shot at Neo, but in my honest opinion, it would have been better if we went our separate ways after the house.”
While expressing her regrets, Vee said that everything would have been better and simpler if they had stayed friends. This statement of hers shows that they were good friends, and coming into a relationship and then breaking up not only cost love but friendship as well, which makes the decision more regretful for them.
It was revealed by Vee that she didn’t take advantage of the opportunity of the All Stars Show, of which Neo was also a part, because of which she believes she would have been disqualified sooner. Neo’s presence would have brought all the trauma she had faced, which made her lose her, and she would not have been able to play her game.
On breaking up with Neo after whatever he did at the All the Stars Show with Taloni Baj, Veena said that she knew that her instincts were never wrong about Taloni and that she wasn’t overthinking.
She felt glad when she saw Neo and Taloni kissing each other, because that made her feel like she was never wrong all along. She also stated that her relationship was never handled properly; a lot was “swept under the carpet.”
