Veah Netherton, a star from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, believes that her health problems have brought her closer to God. She joined the show in Season 7 with her South African boyfriend, Sunny Mahdi.
However, during the Season 7 Tell-All, which aired on January 12, 2025, Netherton revealed that her health had gotten much worse. In fact, she had to join the Tell-All virtually because she felt too weak to attend in person and film the episode.
In an interview with In Touch, Netherton explained that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumor before traveling to South Africa to meet Mahdi for the first time. She had started taking medication to treat her condition before the trip.
After returning from South Africa, she had to undergo lymphatic draining treatment to help reduce the swelling caused by the tumor. However, the treatment caused severe side effects, including shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, and major weight loss. Netherton said that she had lost about 50 pounds because she couldn’t eat solid food anymore.
Veah Netherton’s Health Crisis Deepens While Relationship Faces Tensions
Despite these health challenges, Netherton found comfort in her faith. She shared that her struggles with her health had actually “strengthened” her relationship with God. Netherton said that she was now living her life according to the teachings in the Bible.
She admitted that she hit rock bottom during her health battle, but through it all, her faith in God had only become stronger. Netherton also shared that, despite being severely underweight and still surviving on meal replacement drinks, she could now walk and stand on her own after a long period of struggling.
During the Season 7 Tell-All, Netherton and Mahdi opened up about their relationship and revealed that they briefly broke up after getting engaged. They had gotten engaged on December 29, 2024, during a trip to Drakensberg, South Africa, which was shown on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.
At first, the couple kept their engagement a secret from Mahdi’s father. However, Mahdi later decided to tell his father, and his father didn’t approve of their engagement.
While in South Africa, Mahdi asked Netherton to convert to his religion and also to remove her tattoos. Netherton denied his request, saying that she couldn’t change her beliefs or appearance just for love.
Although it seemed like the couple had worked out their disagreements on the show, fans are now speculating that they may have broken up after filming ended.
Recently, Mahdi posted a cryptic Instagram story. In the story, he called out someone for seeking sympathy and attention. Mahdi wrote, “True strength comes from facing challenges, learning from them, and becoming better.” He then added a message that caused a lot of fans to wonder about his relationship with Netherton.
Mahdi claimed that Netherton had been lying to fans about her health diagnosis. He also mentioned, “Go fund me coming soon,” leading fans to believe that Netherton might start a fundraising campaign to help with her treatment.
