A lineup of beloved Studio Ghibli films is making its way to theaters across America this year, kicking off with the theatrical release of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away on April 27 as part of Studio Ghibli Fest 2024.
The festival, featuring 14 iconic titles, aims to bring these cinematic gems back to the big screen for fans to enjoy the immersive experience.
Following Spirited Away, the fest continues with screenings of Alongside classics like Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro, the festival lineup features a selection of Ghibli favorites of the Wind and Castle in the Sky, both directed by Miyazaki.
While these films are available through various platforms, the event encourages viewers to relish the magic of Ghibli’s animation in theaters.
“Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”, a post-apocalyptic masterpiece released in 1984, will be shown in both English and Japanese versions, while Castle in the Sky, an adventure from 1986, returns with its enchanting tale of courage and friendship.
These screenings coincide with the 40th anniversary of Nausicaä, a testament to its enduring popularity and critical acclaim.
