After several delays, San Diego Comic-Con has announced the long-awaited release date for the anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki.
The Uzumaki anime is scheduled to premiere on September 28 at 12:30 a.m. EDT on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block. It will also be available for streaming on the Max service.
A new trailer was released to mark the announcement.
The anime was initially slated to debut on Toonami in 2020, ahead of its Japanese release, but faced multiple delays. The premiere was first pushed to 2021, then rescheduled to October 2022, and further delayed in June 2022.

Hiroshi Nagahama will direct the four-episode Uzumaki anime at Studio Drive, with Colin Stetson composing the music. The mini-series is co-produced by Adult Swim and Production I.G. USA.
Uzumaki is a Japanese horror manga series created by Junji Ito. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s weekly seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits from 1998 to 1999, and the chapters were compiled into three volumes published from August 1998 to September 1999.
