Usher’s impromptu Las Vegas wedding to Jennifer Goicoechea certainly caught everyone off guard, including his own family. The classic Vegas style with Elvis adds a unique twist to their story. Winning Entertainer of the Year and receiving the President’s Award at the NAACP Image Awards must have made the weekend even more memorable for them.
“It was an incredible moment that we felt was great for us,” he told. “It was a button at the end of an incredible Las Vegas run. My mother was there, her mother was there, the kids were there, our immediate family was there.
Matter of fact, everybody was surprised. I’m like, ‘No, no, no, we’re having a wedding right now.’ They’re like, ‘What?’ I’m like ‘Yeah, we’re gonna go have Elvis officiate us.’ It was great.”
It sounds like Usher and Jennifer have quite the celebration planned with their upcoming “incredible, over-the-top wedding.”
Closing out their time in Vegas with a legal ceremony adds a special touch to their journey. And wrapping up his My Way residency before the Super Bowl performance marks a significant milestone in Usher’s career.
Given their long-term relationship since 2019 and their shared family, Usher and Goicoechea’s wedding wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Their commitment and growing family indicate a solid foundation for their union. Usher’s hint about their impending nuptials in an interview added a touch of anticipation before the big event.
“Listen, when you find someone that you know is a great partner, of course it is an honor and a pleasure to be able to share life with someone who wants to share it with you and loves you, who you are,” he told the outlet.
“We’ve obviously made a commitment to life for life together because of our children. It wouldn’t be odd for us to get married.”
He added,
“We have an amazing dynamic between our relationship where I’m able to be passionate still about what I do and have an incredible partner to work through some of the harder times as a young man dealing with children and dealing with the dynamic of how you communicate with them.”
