A drone attack in Jordan that claimed the lives of three US soldiers and left dozens wounded is believed to be orchestrated by an Iran-backed militia group. Kataib Hezbollah, reportedly supported by the IRGC Revolutionary Guard in Iraq and Syria, is suspected to be behind the attack, marking a significant escalation in the region’s tensions. The incident has raised concerns over potential broader conflicts as the US grapples with rising hostilities on multiple fronts.
The attack unfolded as the enemy drone approached the US military outpost, Tower 22, coinciding with the return of an American drone to the base. The coordination between the two drones led to uncertainty, causing a delay in the US response. US officials are currently assessing the origin of the enemy drone.
The three soldiers killed in the attack were identified as Sgt. William Rivers, Specialist Kennedy Sanders, and Specialist Breonna Moffett, all from the 718th Engineer Company based in Fort Moore, Georgia. More than 40 individuals were injured, and the number could potentially rise.
This incident follows approximately 165 attacks on US and coalition forces since October 17, with six attacks reported since Friday. The attacks, including the recent drone strike, intensify concerns over a broader conflict in the Middle East. The US has been facing continuous assaults from Iran-backed militia groups in Iraq and Syria.
