Worth A Watch?
With a score of 7.3 on My Anime List, the first season of The Misfit of Demon King Academy delivers an average experience. Despite the plot being pretty basic with no layered elements, the animation contributes greatly to its success. It’s the epitome of common isekai tropes and storylines. It can be regarded as a light-hearted, not-too-serious series, but it’s not meant for viewers who expect an emotionally-moving experience.
The manga readers were let down due to recurring breaks in chapters, leading to low ratings for the manga. There’s nothing over-the-top or impressive about this series; it incorporates typical isekai elements like an overpowered main character and attractive female characters. However, when Anos said, “I’m not bothered by misunderstandings. A misunderstanding won’t become true no matter how long you wait. It’s fine if the other person is wrong.” it served as a good enough convincing for giving the anime a try.
