The Irish rock star Bono, who will be performing with U2 at the Sphere in Las Vegas this autumn, is also reportedly involved in a noteworthy architectural project in Los Angeles.
In the Hollywood Hills, a large house with an incredibly large foundation and an elevated driveway has been under construction for the past few months. It is easily seen from Fairfax Avenue heading north.
According to sources, Bono has invested in the project, which was developed by Plus Development Group and designed by architect Noah Walker. The property appears to consist of a guest house, a pool, and a triangular main house.
Bono was spotted checking out the house’s progress
An interview request was not answered by Walker’s office or Plus Development Group, and a representative for Bono could not be reached for comment.
For $65 million in 2021, music industry executive Scooter Braun purchased a 19,000-square-foot contemporary mansion in Brentwood, which was designed by Walker.
Although there have been no official remarks, a neighbor claimed to have seen the music icon—who has 19 more shows at the Sphere between December 2023 and February 2024—observing the building of the house across the street.
The house belongs to a group of bold, speculative homes that were built in the neighborhood recently. Notable examples are the Californication House, a modern mansion inspired by Thunderball that was developed by celebrity real estate agents Rayni and Branden Williams along with Crest Real Estate founder Jason Somers.
The Stanley House, which sold for $33 million in 2018 and featured interiors by Lenny Kravitz, is another example.
Redevelopment of Megan Ellison’s former Mount Olympus residence is another large spec home project nearby, which is also being undertaken by Plus Development Group.
Bono is also an activist
A committed supporter of social justice issues outside of music, Bono is active in both the U2 group and on his own. His vigorous activism against HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty in Africa has led to the co-founding of several organizations, including DATA, EDUN, the ONE Campaign, and Product Red.
His involvement in benefit concerts and his attempts to interact with politicians and international leaders regarding relief initiatives demonstrate his dedication to these causes.
Due to his charitable endeavors, Bono has received praise and recognition; in 2005, he was listed as one of Time’s Persons of the Year.
In recognition of his services to the music industry and humanitarian endeavors, Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom awarded him an honorary knighthood in 2007. 2013 also saw the addition of a Commandeur title to his French Order of Arts and Letters membership.
But Bono has come under fire, especially for allegedly ignoring African companies in his activism and for problems involving tax evasion in his private financial affairs.
More about Bono
Lead singer and chief lyricist for the rock group U2, Bono is an Irish singer-songwriter and activist.
Growing up in Dublin, Ireland, Bono went to Mount Temple Comprehensive School. It was there that he began dating Alison Stewart, his future wife, and the band that would become U2 was co-founded in 1976.
Bono swiftly established himself as the band’s fervent frontman thanks to his powerful songwriting, dramatic gestures, and expressive vocal styles. Because of his Christian beliefs, his lyrical themes frequently include social, political, and religious elements.
During U2’s formative years, Bono’s lyrics were essential in creating the rebellious and spiritual spirit of the band. His lyrics became more and more influenced by the members’ common experiences as the band progressed.
In recognition of his contributions to U2, Bono has received 22 Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In addition to his work with U2, Bono has collaborated musically on several projects. His collaborations with fellow U2 member the Edge have led to his contributions to songs for Martin Garrix, Tina Turner, and Roy Orbison, among other artists. They also contributed to the scores of two other musicals: “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” and a London stage version of “A Clockwork Orange.”
In the world of business, Bono was involved in the renovation of Dublin’s Clarence Hotel and served as managing director and managing partner of Elevation Partners, a private equity firm that made investments in many different companies.
