It was really cute for the readers to see Riftan all apologetic, and Maxi finally taking a stand for herself and what she likes. Looking back, Maxi has always had a pretty submissive and timid personality, so no one expected her to be so adamant about dealing with Riftan. It was refreshing to see her take a stand for what she wants to do.
We all know that Riftan is extremely overprotective of Maxi, and he doesn’t like seeing her tire herself out or go out of her way. He doesn’t understand that Maxi doesn’t want comfort but she wants to do things she enjoys. Let us see what happens next between the two in Under the Oak Tree Chapter 91.
We were also introduced to a new character in the previous chapter, who is a healer that Riftan recruited to assist Maxi. It is really fun because he looked like a frail old man who was on the threshold of life and death. We wonder if the new healer will be any good and if he will play an important part in the story going ahead.
Maxi looked a little offended when Riftan told her about hiring another healer since she thought he didn’t believe in her skills, but Riftan kept insisting that it was so that Maxi wouldn’t feel overburdened. It was really cute to see the two resolve their fights and Riftan being reasonable for once.
Even so, it has done nothing to diminish the series’ popularity since it still remains the top manhwa on Manta and one of top series on its original platform, Ridibooks. In the previous chapter of Under the Oak Tree, Riftan spoke some very harsh words to Maxi because he didn’t like seeing her tiring herself out by healing his soldiers in the infirmary. He always had a problem with Maxi doing anything because he wanted her to be living a comfortable life, even if Maxi didn’t want it for herself.
Maxi was very hurt by Riftan’s behavior and she decided not to talk to him at all, just to make him realize that she is angry. She refused to speak a single word and didn’t even look in his direction since she was that angry. Riftan finally realized that he had made a huge mistake and hurt his wife.
Riftan finally managed to get Maxi to look at him and told her that he didn’t mean what he had said before. He tells her that he only ever wants her to live a comfortable life where she wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Maxi gets a little teary-eyed and she tells him that she doesn’t want that kind of life.
She was very firm in telling him that learning magic and becoming a healer was very enjoyable and satisfying for her. Riftan actually acknowledges her words and promises her not to repeat his mistakes again. The only thing he wanted from Maxi, was for her to take appropriate rest and not overexert herself either.
He also tells her that he will hire another healer but Maxi gets a little upset again. She asks if it is because he doesn’t trust her skills but Riftan panics and tells her that he is doing this because there are way too many soldiers. He asks Maxi to think of the new healer as her assistant.
