Reflecting on her Union life and inspired by Fuuko’s painting, Gina realizes change may not be so bad after all. She tells them to leave as their seats are now secured. Andy tightly embraces Gina as the chapter closes on her unknown fate.
With the thrilling battle against Gina now over, Andy and Fuuko seem to have solidified their positions among the Union’s elite Negators. This episode balanced enjoyable action sequences with the series’ signature raunchy humor, which some will find more appealing than others.
Spoilers and Expectations
Beyond the fights and fanservice, the narrative explores the concept of change while also providing interesting character development for villain Gina. The writers try to draw out some empathy for Gina in her final moments as she reflects on life and ponders embracing change.
However, the attempt to humanize Gina might have landed better if the show dedicated another chapter to flashbacks of her time in the Union. While her verbal disdain for the organization comes through, actually seeing those experiences dramatized could have made her change of heart more impactful.
Overall, fans got some solid fights and humor out of this episode, along with food for thought on change. More backstory on Gina’s Union days would have enhanced her redemption arc, but we can be satisfied for now, having secured our heroes’ status among the Negators.
