The January 2018 issue of Shogakukan’s Monthly Hero’s magazine also announced the anime on Friday. The magazine had teased a “major announcement” for the manga on the same day. Additionally, the issue published a special one-shot manga for Shimizu and Shimoguchi’s Linebarrels of Iron manga, which will ship the first volume of its “Complete Edition” on December 5.

This week has seen manga publisher Viz Media take to Twitter to announce not one but two new licenses, for a pair of titles which will receive print releases beginning in August 2015. Here’s what they had to show off:

Hero Academia – Set in an alternate present day where many people hold superpowers, this Shonen Jump series follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy with no such powers but plenty of dreams regardless. The series has previously been made available via Viz Media’s digital editions of Weekly Shonen Jump but will be enjoying a full print release this summer.

Ultraman – Based on the well-known live-action franchise, this series from the creators of the Linebarrels of Iron manga follows an ordinary teenager with extraordinary powers – powers which allow him to become Ultraman, an all-important weapon in the fight against Kaiju to save humanity.

Viz Media publishes the Ultraman manga in North America, and it represents the story in this way…Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined Shin Hayata of the Scientific Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters known as Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero – a new kind of Ultraman…

Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. When he learns that his father passed on the “Ultraman Factor” to him and that he possesses incredible powers, nothing will ever be the same again.

The Linebarrels of Iron team launched their series based on Tsuburaya Production’s most famous live-action special-effects hero in Monthly Hero’s magazine in 2011. Shogakukan published the manga’s 10th compiled book volume on July 5 and will ship the 11th volume on December 5. Viz Media released the manga’s ninth volume on October 17, and the 10th volume is slated to ship on May 18.
