The manga ‘Ueno-san wa Bukiyou’ a.k.a ‘How Clumsy You Are, Miss Ueno’ is the story of a third-grade junior high school girl Ueno who is brilliant and very smart and a genius inventor too. She is also the head of the school’s science club.

She develops feelings for Tanaka, a second-grader who is a member of her science club, but she struggles to tell him about her interest. She tries to convey her love for her crush using her bizarre inventions, but her efforts are usually unsuccessful.

One day Ueno invents a portable water purifier, and she was really happy about her new invention. She named it Rokka-kun. When Tanaka enters the club room, she shows it to him and tells him about her invention, how that water purifier can take any kind of dirty water and will purify it back to spring water quality.

Tanaka is then instructed to swallow a glass of her purified pee by her to show that her invention is effective. Tanaka tells her that it’s unclean and begs her to keep it away, but Ueno insists on drinking it anyhow. She even lays out a scenario for what he would do in a desert without any water, but he continues to insist on not drinking it.

Yamashita is then given the glass by Ueno, who instructs her to sip from it. Yamashita says that he actually drank some of it and that it didn’t taste or smell like urine, but rather like regular water. Ueno insisted Tanaka consume it even after Yamashita had already done so.

Tanaka wonders why she was so determined to make him drink it which made him even more doubtful and unwilling to drink. He asks her the reason but she doesn’t tell him.

Yamashita reveals to him the reasoning behind her repeated requests for him to consume her urine. She was having trouble confessing to him that she had a crush on him. Tanaka exits the room after denying consuming it. This was one method of confessing her crush on him.

In the last episode of “Ueno-san wa Bukiyou”, we saw Ueno’s experiment #91, during a weed-removing activity. The students were clearing out the grass from the ground. Bunny ear senpai harrases Ueno on a skateboard with Ungowa and Hanamori and then they leave from there to trouble the third-year students.

Ueno apologizes for their behavior and they all focus on their work. When Ueno was asked why she had joined the science club she said it was because she was forced to and she wasn’t interested in trying out anything else at that time.

Everyone shares their experience from their clubs. Then the other girl tells why she joined the calligraphy club, and then Ueno tells her about the weird rules of the club that she had heard; for example, only the upper classes get to sit near the window, and the freshmen get only 3 brushes per year and only third years can change in the club room and that underclassmen have to follow the most rules.

Ueno tells that she had not experienced anything like that. So it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. And they concluded to the fact that Ueno was quite enjoying her time in the science club.

While the other student tells about how they don’t even get to swim in the swimming club and they just do strength training all the time, she tells how she feels good wearing swimsuits in front of many people.
