In the upcoming sequel to the dark fantasy manga “Übel Blatt,” titled “Übel Blatt II: Shiseru Ō no Kishidan” (The Knights of the Fallen King), Etorouji Shiono will delve into a narrative set one year after the conclusive battle with Glenn. Elseria, now crowned empress, finds herself leading an empire plunged into chaos, plagued by dissidents.
Lord Viceroy Ascheriit, formerly known as Köinzell, aids Elseria in stabilizing the empire, joined by the imperial general Geranpen, his chief official Ato, and the Blatt Meister Ikfes.
The storyline takes an intriguing turn as a new threat arises in the southern frontier of the empire, embodied by The Knights of the Fallen King—loyalists of Glenn who anticipate his eventual return, stirring unrest in the far reaches of the empire.
Shiono’s manga journey with Square Enix began in 2004 when the serialization of Übel Blatt commenced in Young Gangan magazine. A spinoff titled Übel Blatt Gaiden saw publication in Young Gangan Big in 2011, and after a brief hiatus, the main series returned to Big Gangan in the same year.
The culmination of Übel Blatt arrived with the 23rd volume in June 2019, and Yen Press has since made the entire series available in English. Shiono also explored the Deep Insanity: Nirvana manga, based on Square Enix’s franchise, in collaboration with writers Norimitsu Kaihō and Makoto Fukami.
Launched in Big Gangan in January 2020, the manga concluded its run in March 2023, with Square Enix releasing the final compiled volume in May 2023.
Continuing his creative endeavors, Shiono embarked on the Jinrui Sonbō Cockpit Girls (Mankind Survival Cockpit Girls) manga journey in Shonengahosha’s Monthly Young King Ours GH magazine in January 2022. This venture came to a close in October 2023, with Shonengahosha publishing the third and final volume of the manga in December 2023.
