TWICE’s Sana has looked back on the moment that ultimately convinced her to leave Japan and pursue her dream of becoming a K-pop idol in South Korea.
During a recent conversation with 2PM’s Junho, the singer revealed that watching one of the group’s concerts with her mother played a major role in her decision to join JYP Entertainment.
On October 1, a video featuring Sana as the MC and Junho as the guest was uploaded to the YouTube channel Ch117.
During their conversation, the two JYP Entertainment artists reflected on their long careers and Sana’s journey from being discovered in Japan to becoming a member of TWICE.
Sana revealed that she had been uncertain about whether she should move to Korea after being scouted in Japan.
However, an experience with her mother ultimately changed her mind.
“The decisive reason I joined JYP was after watching a 2PM concert,” Sana explained.
She recalled that when she was cast in Japan, she was unsure about going to Korea and becoming a trainee.
Her mother then purchased tickets to a 2PM concert, and the experience gave Sana the motivation she needed to take the next step.
A 2PM Concert Changed Sana’s Decision
Sana explained that her mother asked her a simple but important question while they were attending the concert:
“Do you want to be on stage like that?”
Sana answered that she did, saying,
“Yeah, I want to do that too.”
That realization eventually led her to travel to Korea and begin her journey toward becoming a K-pop idol.

The TWICE member also remembered being deeply impressed by 2PM’s performances at the time.
Seeing the members perform on a large stage gave her a clear picture of the kind of performer she wanted to become.
Interestingly, Sana later discovered that her expectations about performing alongside male dancers would take much longer to become reality.
Sana Reflects on Her Decade With TWICE
During the conversation, Sana and Junho also discussed their lengthy careers in the entertainment industry.
When Junho pointed out that Sana had now been active for 10 years, she reacted with surprise at how quickly the time had passed.
Junho, who has worked as both a singer and actor for many years, noted that he has been a singer for 18 years and an actor for 13 years. Sana responded with surprise, asking whether it had really been that long.
Sana also spoke warmly about Junho’s support throughout her career. She described him as
“the only senior who truly looked out for me since my debut,” explaining that he continued to stay in touch and offer advice even while TWICE was on a world tour.
Junho jokingly responded that he had probably taken good care of her health, while Sana added that he had also encouraged her to enjoy her career and have fun.
The conversation offered fans a glimpse into Sana’s early path to becoming an idol, as well as the senior-junior relationship she developed within JYP Entertainment.
For Sana, a single concert experience with her mother became the decisive moment that transformed uncertainty into determination.
Years later, that decision has led to a decade-long career with TWICE, one of K-pop’s most successful girl groups.
