In a move that underscores the physically demanding nature of global K-pop tours, JYP Entertainment has officially announced that TWICE member Dahyun will be unable to participate in the upcoming Taipei leg of the group’s “THIS IS FOR” world tour.
This update follows a period of ongoing recovery for the artist, who has been battling an ankle injury since early February.
While fans were hopeful for her return to the stage this month, the agency has clarified that her health must remain the absolute priority to prevent any long-term complications from her condition.
A Measured Approach to Recovery
The injury was first brought to public attention in February when Dahyun was noticeably absent from the North American leg of the tour.
After experiencing persistent pain, medical examinations revealed that she had sustained a stress fracture in her ankle.
Since the diagnosis, Dahyun has been undergoing intensive treatment, which has included the use of a medical brace and a half-cast to stabilize the area.

JYP Entertainment shared the details of her journey, stating,
“Since then, in order to meet fans again as soon as possible, she has been focusing on her recovery while receiving various treatments… Our company has also been closely monitoring the artist’s condition and preparing for her return.”
Despite the artist’s strong personal desire to perform, the physical toll of TWICE’s intricate and high-energy choreography poses a significant risk to an unhealed fracture.
The agency emphasized that the decision to extend her hiatus through the Taipei shows- scheduled for March 20 to 22- was made after “careful discussions based on medical advice.”
The primary concern is that premature “intense choreography and stage movements” could exacerbate the injury, potentially leading to a more severe setback that could sideline her for an even longer duration.
Ensuring a Strong Return for the Future
The announcement has met with widespread understanding and support from the “ONCE” fandom, who have flooded social media with well-wishes for the “Dobu” of the group. JYP Entertainment expressed their regret over the news, saying,
“We sincerely apologize to fans who have been looking forward to DAHYUN’s performance for delivering this sudden news.”
They reassured supporters that the long-term plan is for Dahyun to “rejoin the world tour once she has fully recovered and regained her health.”
By choosing rest over immediate performance, the agency is following a modern industry standard of prioritizing the physical longevity of idols.
Dahyun’s absence will certainly be felt on stage in Taipei, but the focus remains on ensuring she can return with the same energy and smile that fans have come to love.
In the meantime, the agency has encouraged fans to continue supporting the remaining eight members while Dahyun focuses on her rehabilitation.
The commitment to providing “fullest support to ensure her speedy recovery” remains the central goal as TWICE continues their journey across Asia.
