Attorneys representing Donald Trump are actively supporting calls for the dismissal of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in the 2020 election subversion case in Georgia. Allegations of misconduct between Willis and her lead prosecutor, Nathan Wade, form the basis of the motion filed in Fulton County Superior Court. Trump’s co-defendant asserts a romantic relationship between Willis and Wade, claiming financial benefits from vacations.
Trump’s attorneys are particularly critical of Willis’s public comments defending her choice of lead prosecutor, accusing her of violating Georgia rules for prosecutors. The motion aims to hold Willis legally accountable for alleged misconduct and for injecting race into the case.
In recent remarks at Atlanta’s Big Bethel A.M.E. Church, Willis questioned why only one of the three prosecutors was targeted, defending her team and suggesting racial bias against a Black man’s qualifications.
The district attorney’s office has chosen not to comment on the latest filing. Trump’s attorneys argue that Willis’s comments intentionally fueled racial bias against the defendants, violating Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct with potential disbarment as the maximum penalty.
