Ethan Slater is eager to wrap things up so he can fully relish his relationship with Ariana Grande. It is to be noted that the star and his estranged wife, Lilly Jay are ‘still in the mediation phase’ and added: “[Things] haven’t been finalised yet.”
“Ethan and Ariana are living together at her place and are very happy, but he’s eager to get things finalised with the divorce,” the insider continued. “He wants the option to propose [to Ariana], so he’s doing everything he can to expedite things.”
Ethan and Ariana’s relationship seemingly emerged unexpectedly, originating from their encounter on the set of Wicked while they were still married to others. Although Ariana’s marriage to ex-husband Dalton Gomez had reportedly ended before her involvement in Wicked, Lilly, Ethan’s spouse, was purportedly taken aback by his connection with the singer.
The couple had recently welcomed their first child together, adding to Lilly’s sense of feeling blindsided. Reports indicate she was deeply affected by her husband’s newfound relationship, with sources stating last July: “This is not the future she had in mind.”
She and Ethan had been together since 2012, sharing a bond as high school sweethearts, and they welcomed their son in 2022. A source revealed last summer:
“Ethan sat Lilly down a few days before the news broke about him and Ariana and said that he wanted a divorce. Lilly never saw it coming.”
Lilly herself expressed her perspective on the situation, stating,
“[Ariana’s] the story, really. My family is just collateral damage.”
However, representatives for both Ariana and Ethan have refuted claims of any overlap with their previous relationships.
Ariana addressed the speculation over the timeline in her recent song “Yes, And?” Since then, their relationship seems to have remained steadfast, as evidenced by their decision to move in together in New York City, showing no signs of their romance slowing down.
