Blaise Taylor, renowned for his collegiate football career at Arkansas State and subsequent roles as a scout for the Tennessee Titans and staff member at Utah State, faces grim charges following a tragic incident in early 2023.
According to The Tennesseean, Taylor has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder after his girlfriend, Jade Benning, and their unborn child passed away.
Benning was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Feb. 23, after Taylor dialed 911 to report her severe allergic reaction. Tragically, Benning succumbed to her condition on her 25th birthday, March 6, while their unborn child, believed to be fathered by Taylor, perished on Feb. 27.
Upon investigation, forensic experts and a medical examiner determined that Benning was unknowingly poisoned. A Nashville grand jury indicted Taylor on Wednesday, leading to his arrest in Utah.
Taylor had a notable tenure as a pro scout for the Titans, serving in that capacity for four years. His responsibilities, as outlined on the Titans’ official website, encompassed advance scouting of upcoming opponents and evaluation of potential free agents. In 2023, he assumed the role of defensive analyst at Utah State.
Recently, Football Scoop reported that Texas A&M recruited him for a similar position. Interestingly, Taylor’s father, Trooper Taylor, also joined Texas A&M as their associate head coach and running backs coach.
