Toy Story 5 Disney+ Release Date Confirmed After $1 Billion Box Office Run

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is officially heading to Disney+, giving fans a confirmed date to watch the latest adventure of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of Bonnie’s toys at home. The fifth installment will begin streaming on September 23, 2026, according to Disney+.

The announcement comes after Toy Story 5 became one of 2026’s biggest box office successes. The film premiered in theaters in June and has grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide, extending the remarkable commercial success of Pixar’s long-running franchise. Disney’s confirmation now gives subscribers a clear date for the sequel’s streaming arrival.

Toy Story 5 Brings the Gang Home in September

The Disney+ release will reunite audiences with Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Greta Lee also joins the franchise as the voice of Lilypad, a new tablet device that becomes a major part of Bonnie’s changing world.

The central conflict sees the toys face a modern challenge as technology begins competing for Bonnie’s attention. Disney describes the new chapter as “Toy meets Tech,” with Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the group forced to confront Lilypad’s disruptive ideas about what is best for their child.

Directed by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 explores whether the toys can remain relevant as Bonnie’s relationship with playtime changes. The familiar characters must once again work together while dealing with a threat very different from the villains and obstacles they faced in previous movies.

Fans who do not want to wait until September 23 can already watch Toy Story 5 through digital rental and purchase platforms. The film became available digitally on August 18 through services including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play and Fandango at Home.

A physical release is also scheduled for September 22, one day before the Disney+ premiere. The 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions will include additional material such as deleted scenes, a gag reel and behind-the-scenes features.

The streaming debut will also bring Toy Story 5 into Disney+’s larger Toy Story collection, allowing subscribers to revisit the entire franchise. Disney says the Toy Story films have been streamed for more than 2 billion hours globally on the platform, highlighting the enduring popularity of Woody, Buzz and their fellow toys.

Disney has also released a new music video featuring the piano version of Taylor Swift’s original Toy Story 5 song, “I Knew It, I Knew You.” The video includes footage from the film and is available through Disney+, Spotify and Apple Music, adding another major promotional push ahead of the sequel’s streaming release.
