Megan Thee Stallion has filed a temporary restraining order against Tory Lanez, citing ongoing harassment. Lanez, in response, has accused her of manipulating the justice system to silence dissent.
Court documents obtained by PEOPLE reveal that Lanez, 32, responded on Dec. 24 to Megan’s request for the order, filed on Dec. 17. Lanez contends that Megan, 29, has “improperly weaponized” the legal system for a civil harassment order, despite having “zero direct contact” with him.
Lanez claims Megan is leveraging her fame and corporate backing to stifle free speech. The filing references California law, which prohibits restraining orders from infringing on constitutionally protected speech. His complaint suggests Megan has used legal avenues to suppress opinions rather than engage in open debate.
Megan’s attorney, Mari Henderson, refuted Lanez’s claims. She called it “delusional” for Lanez to contest the protective order after being convicted of a violent crime. Henderson expressed confidence that the court would uphold the restraining order to protect Megan from further harassment.
Megan alleges that Lanez has continued to harass her via social media and third parties while serving his sentence. She specifically names blogger Milagro Gramz, who she claims Lanez has used to bully and harm her reputation. Megan’s filing describes the ongoing harassment as deeply traumatizing, causing severe emotional distress and reputational damage.
Lanez was convicted in 2022 on multiple felony charges related to the 2020 shooting that injured Megan. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 and is currently serving time at Tehachapi State Prison. Despite this, Megan alleges Lanez continues psychological warfare against her, employing supporters to tarnish her character.
Lanez argues that his incarceration negates any potential threat, emphasizing that he neither possesses a firearm nor has direct contact with Megan. He claims the restraining order is unwarranted due to the lack of recent interactions.
A court hearing regarding the restraining order is scheduled for Jan. 9, where both parties are expected to present their cases.
