Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise played the lead role of Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the film “Top Gun.” In 1986, Cruise was 23 years old. Born on July 3, 1962, he is now 61 years of age as of 2023. Cruise’s portrayal of Maverick catapulted him to stardom, and he has since become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable and successful actors. When he’s not doing his own stunts for movies like the latest Mission Impossible, he’s doing work for the Church of Scientology as one of their most vocal personalities.
Kelly McGillis
She played the role of Charlie Blackwood, the instructor and love interest for Maverick. Today she’s still an actress but more focused on theatre. In 1986, McGillis was 28 years old. She was born on July 9, 1957, and is currently 66 years old.
McGillis gained recognition for her role in “Top Gun” and went on to appear in various films like “Witness, earning a Golden Globe and a BAFTA nomination. She’s also worked in Television, like the soap opera One Life to Live. Furthermore, McGillis also did some work for the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC.
Val Kilmer
He portrayed Tom “Iceman” Kazansky; apart from Top Gun, his work is remarkable in such films as Willow (1988), The Doors (1991), Heat (1995), Batman Forever (1995), The Ghost and the Darkness (1996), Red Planet (2000), and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005).
He has also portrayed historical figures such as Doc Holliday in Tombstone (1993). Anthony Edwards
He was Goose, Maverick’s Radar Intercept Officer and best friend. He now works as a director and still acts in some shows. He gained further prominence with his role as Dr. Mark Greene on the long-running medical drama ER from 1994 to 2009. Since leaving ER, Anthony has portrayed several different characters on shows such as Zero Hour (2013), The Affair (2017–2018), and Designated Survivor (2019). He also appeared alongside Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler in the 2010 comedy-drama film Grown Ups. More recently, he reunited with Tom Cruise in 2020’s Top Gun: Maverick.
Meg Ryan
She was Carole Bradshaw, Goose’s wife. Meg Ryan is still acting but hasn’t had a major role in years. She achieved major success with the release of When Harry Met Sally in 1989, becoming a leading lady of romantic comedy films throughout the 1990s.
