Tom Wyner, an English-American voice actor, producer, writer, and director, has passed away at the age of 77. Wyner was especially well-known for his numerous roles in iconic anime series like Cowboy Bebop, Digimon, Ghost in the Shell, and more.
Mobile Monicker, Wyner’s agency, confirmed the actor’s death on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Wyner’s first credited anime role was for the Lupin the 3rd Part II anime TV series. He also appeared in Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, one of the most celebrated animated movies in the Lupin the 3rd franchise, directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli fame.
However, Wyner’s breakout role was in the 1985 Robotech anime series as Jonathan Wolfe.
Among the countless characters Wyner played in his nearly 50-year history, his villainous roles in both animation and live-action became his most memorable performances. Wyner played almost 30 villains in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and wrote “Green with Evil – Part III; The Rescue” and “Calamity Kimberly.”

In addition to voice acting, Wyner was an ADR director and story editor, with over 20 years of experience at Saban Entertainment before transitioning into audiobook narration. “Tom was absolutely enthralled by the opportunity to meet his fans, sharing his own passions and inspiring them to chase after their dreams.
“He poured his heart and soul into every encounter, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. His beautiful and kindred spirit will forever hold a special place in our hearts.” Mobile Monicker said.
Voice actor Wendee Lee, who plays Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, also paid her respects to Wyner on her social media X account. “Losing voice actor Tom Weiner is a sad one,” Lee said. “I’ve worked with Tom since the beginning. He was wildly talented, confident, intelligent, funny, restless, a handful at times. He loved animals, cooking, and food. Sending healing light to all who knew and appreciated him. Farewell, friend.”
