Tom Sachs was born July 26, 1966, in New York City is an American artist whose career got elevated in the 1990s. Sachs was raised and did his schooling in Westport, Connecticut. After his graduation in LA, he moved to New York to pursue his dreams and fulfill all his passion in the industry.
Tom’s first solo show came out in 1995, called “Cultural Prosthetics,” and it gained lots of appraisal from the audience. Then, Creativity is the Enemy came into light. Following this, he collaborated with many big brands, and since then, he has been non-stop.
Tom Sachs Controversy
It seems like this year is not meant for Tom Sachs because he is constantly a source of talks, not on good terms though. Tom has a variety of rules and regulations for his studio employees, and he was quite strict about them, but it seems like he himself could not follow the lead.
He expected all his employees to wear proper uniforms, and the decorum was quite a healthy one in his space. But lately, he himself reportedly was seen wearing just underwear, and that too on a Zoom call meeting. This was a meeting with Nike employees who were women.
It is also reported that he often wears underwear in this office, and that seems very strange and not very healthy in a workspace. The investigation regarding this case is still on, and people associated with it are still understanding the situation.
Toxic Workplace
Several other allegations have also been put against Tom that he manages a not-so-healthy work environment that should not be really supported. However, his former employees blamed him, saying that they were not treated in the right way and were constantly subject to very unusual behavior.
What is more shocking is that some of the employees are also alleged to be the victims of offensive statements and sexual tinge & if that is the truth, it’s unacceptable. A workplace should be referred to by some good names, but Sach’s studio was called a cult. However, his studio also refuted all the allegations and claims made against them.
Claims Against Tom’s Wife
Moreover, not just Sachs is involved in the claims. His wife and former Gagosian director Sarah Hoover was also the target of many employees. Five former employees claimed that they were made to perform duties and tasks that they did not even sign for, and the payment made to them was pathetic.
However, it seems like this is a big trouble for Tom and his wife. However, in the past, Nike and Kyrie also split due to the controversy made a few years ago, and before that, it was the same with Kanye. Although, a spokesperson also stated that Tom has never done wrong deeds, never harassed, or made anyone feels uncomfortable.
