Tokyo Mew Mew is an adventure story written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi. The story revolves around a young girl named Ichigo Momomiya who is made into a heroic cat girl along with the other 4 girls to defeat Chimera Animas who are alien parasites that attack animals. The story is one of friendship and bravery and it seems to have won the hearts of many people across the globe.
The series was serialized in Kodansha’s shōjo manga magazine Nakayoshi from September 2000 to February 2003. There are a total of seven volumes that covers the story of the five heroic girls who must do everything in their power to defeat the aliens and protect Earth from them.
Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 Trailer
Tokyo Mew Mew New is making its way back with Season 2 which started to air in Japan on April 5. A trailer for the season was released where we can see our favorite characters on screen again. Ichigo and the other heroines are once again in action and the colorful display in the trailer assures the fans that their personality has not changed.
A poster showcasing the cast was also released around the same time to draw the attention of the fans. Tokyo Mew Mew New completed its first season with 52 episodes and was produced by TV Aichi, We’ve Inc., Tokyu Agency, and Studio Pierrot.

Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 Cast
Tokyo Mew Mew Manga was written by the mangaka Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi illustrated it. In Season 1 the cast members who voiced the different characters are as follows –
Yūki Tenma as Ichigo Momomiya, Mirai Hinata as Mint Aizawa, Ryōko Jūni as Lettuce Midorikawe, Yūma Uchida as Masaya Aoyama, Yūichi Nakamura as Ryō Shirogane, Yusuke Shirai as Keiichirō Akasaka, Rian Toda as Pudding (Purin) Fong, Momoka Ishii as Zakuro Fujiwara, and Kaori Ishihara as Masha.
For the second season, we have the same cast members voicing the same characters. However, it was recently revealed that Hisayo Mochizuki will be coming back to voice the parent of their previous character. Confused? Well, it was announced to the public that Hisayo, who voiced Pudding Fong/Mew Pudding in the original will now be lending her voice to Pudding’s mother.
Apart from that, Saki Nakajima is also returning as a cast member to voice Ichigo’s mother in Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2. She was also a part of the original cast and voiced the protagonist Ichigo in the previous run. It is truly intriguing to witness voice actors returning to voice the mothers of the characters that they played previously.

Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 Production
The first volume of the manga was released in February 2001 and it took Mia Ikumi one year for the design to be completed. The anime was adapted on the screen by Pierrot, TV Aichi, Tokyu Agency and We’ve Inc. They once again came together to launch the second season. Many fans have stated that the second season opens in a better way than the remake of 2022. The solid pairing of Ichigo and Aoyama which was built in the first season bears fruit in the second one, making the story and plot more interesting.
The announcement of the much favored 2000 shoujo anime returning was made on the official Twitter page. This made fans of this classic excited and happy. The new season which launched in April 2023, also marked the 65th anniversary of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine, which is the same magazine where the Tokyo Mew Mew manga was serialized. Talk about masterful planning!
Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 Release Date
The new season aired its first episode on April 5 and is listed to have 12 episodes. The first three episodes have already been aired and the latest was aired on the 18th of April. The anime series is going to continue its run till Episode 12 is released.
