Toei Animation shares surged 5.6% to ¥2,995 after the company announced two new ONE PIECE movies, highlighting the financial importance of one of the studio’s biggest global franchises. The stock reached its highest level since July 30, significantly outperforming the Nikkei 225, which fell 0.7% during the same session.
According to Investing.com, the market reaction followed the announcement of ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY and ONE PIECE FILM BAAD at ONE PIECE DAY’26. GOD VALLEY is scheduled for summer 2027, while BAAD will follow in 2029.
The two movies give Toei Animation a longer-term theatrical pipeline built around a proven global property. The company can benefit from successful ONE PIECE releases through film production, international licensing, character merchandise, and other franchise-related business.
ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY is especially significant because its release will coincide with the manga’s 30th anniversary in 2027. The film’s official website confirms its planned summer 2027 release. Meanwhile, ONE PIECE FILM BAAD is scheduled for 2029, when the ONE PIECE anime will mark its 30th anniversary.
The announcements also mark the franchise’s return to theaters following ONE PIECE FILM RED, which was released in 2022. With two major films now planned several years apart, investors appear to be anticipating continued business opportunities from one of Toei Animation’s most valuable properties.
