The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Denver Nuggets, who were the champions, and now they’re in the Conference finals. It’s the first time in twenty years they’ve made it this far, reminding fans of the old days with Kevin Garnett.
Thrilled with his former team’s success, Garnett shared his views on a recent episode of “All the Smoke Productions.” He compared the dynamic of Wolves’ duo Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns to his partnership with Paul Pierce during his time with the Boston Celtics.
Garnett stated, “[Anthony Edwards] has too big of a personality to be Robin… [Ant and Karl-Anthony Towns] are the faces of the franchise… This is why me and [Paul Pierce] worked. You got to have a yin and a yang.”
The Wolves have heavily relied on Edwards and Towns, who have shouldered the franchise’s defensive and offensive duties, leading them in the postseason tournament, notably in the matchup against the Nuggets. Following the 98-90 win that ended the series, Edwards labeled Towns as the “baddest big man.”
Anthony Edwards Labels KAT “Baddest Big Man” After Series Win
Anthony Edwards showered Karl-Anthony Towns with praise after his brilliant performance in Sunday’s game. The 7-footer center/forward dominated in both defense and offense, scoring the joint team-high points.
In a video, Edwards cheered his teammate’s name and thanked Towns for his brilliance. “Thank KAT, y’all. They ain’t have no answer for Karl. Karl, the baddest big on the planet,” said the 22-year-old.
Towns, outstanding throughout the series against the Nuggets, showcased his heroics in Game 7, operating from all areas of the floor. He contributed 23 points, 12 rebounds, a block, 2 assists, and steals each, while Anthony Edwards chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Together, they thwarted Jamal Murray and Co.
The duo will now lead the team to its second-ever Western Conference finals against the Dallas Mavericks, who boast an equally strong duo eager to challenge them on the court.
