The Minnesota Timberwolves face a tough challenge in the Western Conference Finals following a defeat against the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3. This setback, particularly for Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, dims their stellar season performances.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal recently shared insights on the Timberwolves’ situation, highlighting the decline in shooting percentages for KAT and Edwards. He urged the duo to uplift their game for the team’s success.
“Their two stars have to play lights out if Minnesota wants to win the championship. 28% and 21% is not going to get it done,” O’Neal emphasized.
The performance in Game 3 by Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns
Once praised as the greatest defensive team since 2004, the Timberwolves have struggled to maintain momentum in this series. In Game 3, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving outshone Edwards and Towns, scoring a combined 70 points for the Mavericks.
Anthony Edwards recorded 26 points on 11-of-24 shooting but struggled with turnovers, committing five in the game. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, yet faced difficulties from beyond the arc, missing all eight attempts, including a critical shot late in the game.
Despite their efforts, the Timberwolves fell short against the Mavericks, who capitalized on key opportunities to secure a 14-3 run and the victory.
