Netflix’s Parody starring Kristen Bell, The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window is the kind of show that’ll have you guessing if its scenes are genuine or part of one big joke.
When The Woman In The House was first released, it was quite obvious that this satirical comedy was referencing Netflix’s “The Woman In The Window“, with both the mini-series and 2021 movie following a similar plot, except one is filled with irony and sarcasm.
Aside from Kristen Bell playing Anna Whitaker, the cast is made up of Michael Ealy as Douglas, Neil Coleman is played by Tom Riley, and Mary Holland Plays Sloane. Hopes are still high for another season of The Woman In The House, as the cliffhanger it left us on was very compelling.
The Woman In The House Across The Street Season 1: Recap
The first season of this satirical comedy begins with an introduction to Anna Whitaker, a painter who is now an alcoholic. After her child died and her husband had left her, all Anna did was make chicken casseroles and drink to her heart’s content. She would even mix up meds with alcohol, which would cause crazy hallucinations.
Anna’s boring, monotonous life is made better when Neil Coleman and his daughter move in next door. Whitaker instantly falls in love and tries to introduce herself to the family. She develops a good enough relationship with Neil but isn’t aware of the fact that he has a girlfriend named Lisa.
Lisa works in the aviation industry and frequently visits Neil and his daughter. Anna just quietly spies on Lisa through her window every day. One day, while she’s sipping her drink, Anna sees that Lisa is brutally stabbed and murdered.
Despite having a crippling fear of the rain, she decides to go to Neil’s house. However, she faints midway. The next day, she tries to talk to Neil about it. Neil doesn’t believe her, as Lisa was not at home the previous day. Since Anna was known for having vivid hallucinations, everyone, including the police, just assumed she was delusional.
To make everyone believe that what she saw was real, Anna becomes the detective herself and investigates everything about Lisa. That’s how she finds out that Lisa’s real name was Chastity, and she was only with Neil for his money.
After Lisa’s body is found by police, everyone believes Anna, but the question of who was responsible for all of this remains a mystery. The 8-episode-long satire ended with Anna finding out who the killer was and managing to stay alive despite being attacked.
However, that’s not the end of Anna’s story. We see that Anna finally takes a trip overseas to clear her mind. She sits beside an old, glamorous lady with an eccentric personality. This doesn’t bother Anna, and she just brushes it off.
When Anna gets up to use the bathroom, she finds the old lady dead in the toilet. Anna calls the crew to witness the horrible sight, but the body is no longer even there.
The Woman In The House Across The Street Season 2: Everything We Know
Although there’s a very interesting plot that The Woman In The House Across The Street could work on for a possible Season 2, it’s more than likely that it won’t happen. That’s because this Kristen Bell series was just a fun satire meant to be a one-time mini-series.
It’s been a year since The Woman In The House was first released, and there have been no updates since. Rachel Ramras and Hugh Davidson, the creators of this dark comedy, have not come out with any new announcements regarding this series as well.
This show was watched for more than 130 million hours when it was first released; despite that, Netflix didn’t start production for Season 2. If there does happen to be Season 2 for The Woman In The House Across The Street in the future, it’s undeniably going to be much more entertaining than the first one.
The Woman In The House Across The Street Season 2: What To Expect?
The second season of The Woman In The House Across The Street is likely to pick off right after the major cliffhanger of season 1, which was the old lady’s sudden death and disappearance.
Season 1 had Anna investigating her neighborhood for the killer, but this time, it’s all about to go down in a plane. This sounds like a great murder mystery, and to have Netflix create a parody of such a plot will be an interesting watch for sure.
Netflix usually doesn’t come out with a second season for its parody shows, but there are plenty of one-time mini-series that lived to have multiple seasons.
All we can do is keep our hopes high and rewatch The Woman In The House Season 1 on Netflix until that finally happens.
