The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 1: Release Date, Plot & Cast

“The Unwanted Undead Adventurer” is an intriguing Japanese light novel series created by Y Okano and gorgeously drawn by Jaian. Since September 2016, the adventure has been published online on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform. Overlap has adopted the adventure and released thirteen volumes under the Overlap Novels print since October 2017.

Imagine Haiji Nakasone’s manga adaptation has captured fans’ attention on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website since November 2017. Twelve tankōbon volumes have compiled the narrative’s striking images as of December 2023.

The announcement of an anime adaptation during the “Overlap Bunko 9th Anniversary Online Event” in April 2022 created excitement. Under the direction of Connect, Shun Narita, Takao Sano, Yukie Sugawara, and director and character designer Noriaki Akitaya are creating an immersive experience. Magic music is added by Juvenile’s “Immortal,” the opening song, and Mao Abe’s “Keep Your Fire Burning,” the closing song.

Monster hunter Rentt Faina has a crazy turn of events as he finds a mysterious way. Rentt emerges as an undead creature after dying at the hands of a mythical dragon.

Seeking Existential Evolution, he sets out on a mission to return to the world of the living. “The Unwanted Undead Adventurer” invites everyone to accompany Rentt on his incredible quest by drawing readers and viewers into a world where life and death are intertwined.

The Plot of The Unwanted Undead Adventurer

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer tells the story of adventurer Rentt Faina, a 25-year-old who has spent ten years killing monsters. Since Rentt isn’t the most skilled explorer, he is forced to battle weak monsters like goblins and slimes to make a little cash every day.

When Rentt finds a new passage in the Labyrinth of the Moon’s Reflection one day, everything changes. He ventures into this unknown area out of curiosity in the hopes of discovering buried riches. However, he finds an unexpected object instead of wealth: a large, old dragon. Without hesitation, the dragon eats Rentt alive.

After some time, much to Rentt’s amazement, he wakes up only to find that he is now a pile of bones rather than a living person. Rentt embarks on a singular mission armed only with his sword, tool belt, and a new, unsettling appearance. He wants to go through a process called Existential Evolution, which should allow him to become a human again. Rentt’s adventure as an Unwanted Undead Adventurer commences now.

Rentt, armed only with his skeletal frame, must overcome several obstacles in the maze. In addition to fighting enemies and figuring out riddles, he must constantly worry about getting engulfed by the maze. Rentt overcomes difficulties with cunning and fighting prowess despite his unusual form, depending on the advantages his undead status unpredictably offers.
