The Spectacular Spider-Man creator Greg Weisman has again addressed the possibility of continuing the beloved animated series, confirming that he has made efforts to bring Peter Parker’s story back. While no third season or revival has been announced, Weisman made it clear that his desire to return to the world has never disappeared.
Speaking about his attempts to revive the series, Weisman wrote,
“I have tried. People always overestimate my influence and underestimate my desire to work on the stuff I love.”
His comments add fresh hope for fans who have continued to campaign for more than two seasons.
Greg Weisman Still Wants to Continue The Spectacular Spider-Man
The Spectacular Spider-Man premiered in 2008 and followed a teenage Peter Parker balancing high school with his responsibilities as Spider-Man. Despite its popularity, the series ended after two seasons following changes to Spider-Man’s animation rights between Sony and Marvel.
Weisman had previously planned a much longer story for his version of Spider-Man. His ideas reportedly included roughly five seasons and eventually a movie, with Peter growing older and moving into college.
Several major villains were also expected to appear in later seasons. Hobgoblin and Carnage were among the characters Weisman had considered introducing as Peter Parker’s story continued beyond the events of the second season.

Weisman has also explored the possibility of continuing the series through comic books. That option could allow the story to return even if an animated third season never receives approval, particularly as the creator has previously continued canceled projects in other formats.
The animated series has already received one major acknowledgment from Marvel’s wider multiverse. Josh Keaton returned as the voice of Spectacular Spider-Man’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, giving fans a brief return to Weisman’s version of the character.
With Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse still on the horizon, speculation about another appearance remains inevitable. However, Weisman has not confirmed that the Spectacular Spider-Man universe will appear in the upcoming film.
For now, a third season remains unannounced, but Weisman’s latest comments confirm one important detail: the lack of a continuation is not because he has lost interest. The creator is still willing to return to The Spectacular Spider-Man, even if the final decision remains outside his control.
