The Shaman is a manga following the life of a shaman. God in human worlds is only different in shape and figure. The existence of shamans in the world of shamanism is a person who acts as a bridge between God and humans. They are also the ones who can tell the secret of the universe as long as heaven allows them.
Because the word shaman in Chinese literature has two horizontal lines above and below that symbolize the heavens and the earth, and between those characters, exists a symbol that represents the humans, this manga follows the elements of life, death, and everything in between.
Inspired by the Chinese character, which as a whole, symbolizes the living and the dead, this manga does not fail to cover everything you ever want to know about this world. To be more precise, a shaman is someone who stands on the border between the dead and the living. And also the providence between heaven and earth.
Previously on The Shaman Chapter 9: Recap
We saw in The Shaman Chapter 9 that Nak Bin was always bullied by his neighborhood boys for his mother being a Shaman. Though people at school hated him, he did not resent his mother, as he knew for a fact that it was not her fault at all.
Dong Shin Ah and Nak Bin were now sitting beside Nak Bin’s mother as she lay on her deathbed. Nak Bin just wanted to save his mother’s life, and Dong Shin Ah was just as helpless. Dong Shin Ah also felt sorry because she did not have that much power.
As Nak Bin’s mother was a shaman, there we fire flowers all around her as she was dying. Nak Bin was confused and worried as he thought that she was now leaving him all alone in this world. But to his surprise, his mother wakes up.
For god knows how and why, Nak Bin’s mother wakes up fine and asks him about what is happening. He tells his mother that the fire flowers might have helped ward off evil spirits and maybe also brought her back. Maybe those fire flowers meant good.
Nak Bin had become weak, but he was very grateful to the fire flowers. Nak Bin’s mother then tells him that it is his father in the form of a fire flower and that he needs to say his greetings. Nak Bin’s mother tells him that his father has always been by his side.
Nak Bin’s father’s soul was shattered while saving his mother, and now he is left with only as much energy as the fire flower. Nak Bin thanks his father for saving his and his mother’s life once again.
And at the end of the chapter, we saw how Nak Bin learned the meaning of his name and how much his father loved him. This helped Nak Bin understand his family better.
