The Rising of the Shield Hero is getting a fifth season. Crunchyroll made the announcement during its industry panel at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles on July 3, where it released a teaser trailer, a new key visual, and confirmation of a 2027 broadcast window.
Teaser Trailer and Visual Revealed
The teaser visual is a monochrome illustration of Naofumi standing back-to-back with the Four Cardinal Heroes and the Hakuko siblings, marked by a red logo created specifically for the season. Both English and Japanese versions of the logo were shown in the promo.

Hitoshi Haga Returns to Direct
Hitoshi Haga, who directed both Season 3 and Season 4, is returning to direct Season 5. In a comment released with the announcement, Haga said Naofumi’s party, joined by the three other heroes and new allies, has been preparing for a battle against the Phoenix. He thanked fans and asked for their patience ahead of the broadcast.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 is scheduled to air in 2027. An exact premiere date has not been announced. Previous seasons have streamed on Crunchyroll, and the new season is expected to be available there as well.
