Jujutsu Kaisen fans have always been curious about whether Itadori Yuji and the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, are related. In the latest chapter of the manga, it looks like their family connection has finally been revealed.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257 was leaked, even though the official English version isn’t out yet. These spoilers revealed some big news: Yuji not only unlocks his cursed techniques in this chapter, which makes him one of the strongest characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen.
But he’s also connected to the King of Curses, Sukuna. The English translation of Chapter 257 will be released in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 21 on Monday, April 22nd.
Yuji’s father (Jin Itadori) being Sukuna’s reincarnated twin raises so many questions about his grandfather
Why does he look the most similar to Sukuna? How did he know that Kenjaku was dangerous?
Why did he imply he knew all this already before he died? #JJK257 #JJKSpoilers pic.twitter.com/wXulOPJMJK

In Chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen, not only was Itadori’s Cursed Technique revealed, but it was also disclosed that Yuji has a familial connection to Sukuna.
The chapter took a trip back in time when Uraume questioned Sukuna about Yuji’s true identity. Sukuna confessed that he devoured his twin in their mother’s womb out of hunger.
Surprisingly, the soul of the consumed twin was reincarnated as Jin Itadori, Yuji’s father. Since Yuji is the offspring of Kenjaku and Jin, this makes him Sukuna’s nephew in a rather indirect manner.
The big surprise came with another unexpected twist
In the chapter, finding out that Yuji and Sukuna are somehow related was a big moment. It made Uraume wonder if Yuji could be as strong as Sukuna.
After that, we saw Yuji unleash a series of powerful Black Flashes on Sukuna and attempt to cut Sukuna’s leg.
During the fight, the narrator unveils that Yuji Itadori has awakened two potent Cursed Techniques. The first one is Blood Manipulation, inherited from the cursed womb, similar to Choso and Noritoshi Kamo’s power.
The second technique is Mizushi or Shrine, remarkably similar to Sukuna’s technique. Even though Yuji’s techniques aren’t as refined as their original users, the fact that he can use both of them in battle makes him significantly more powerful than before.
Fans are even theorizing that Yuji might be able to use Kenjaku’s Body Swapping technique, based on hints from an older chapter.
Yuji’s new powers make him a formidable opponent indeed
With his innate Cursed Techniques awakened, Yuji has ascended to one of the most powerful characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
His connection to Sukuna enables him to use Shrine, albeit in a slightly weaker form compared to Sukuna’s version, with its slices less potent.
Sukuna is greatly irritated by this turn of events and questions whether Yuji can truly surpass him. After the revelation, Yuji keeps bombarding Sukuna with successive Black Flashes, which concerns the King of Curses.
Then, Ino attacks Sukuna, throwing Nanami Kento’s blunt blade at him along with a dragon summoned through his own Auspicious Beast Summon technique.

Despite Sukuna slashing the beast and kicking away the blade, he is once more struck by a Black Flash from Yuji, who takes advantage of his distraction to get closer.
According to the spoilers, Yuji keeps landing consecutive Black Flashes on Sukuna, making the Curse question if Yuji has indeed surpassed him in power.
Ino intervenes once more, urging Yuji to give it his all and striking Sukuna with the eighth Black Flash of the battle when the curse tries to attack Itadori.
The narrator then reveals that Yuji Itadori has not only become Sukuna’s equal but may have even surpassed him.
The aftermath of the battle is still unclear, and it will be intriguing to see how Sukuna might try to evade Yuji’s retaliation.
Fans who speculated that Yuji could have been Sukuna’s twin were surprised to discover that it was actually his father who was the reincarnation of Sukuna’s deceased twin.
