The eagerly anticipated seventh season of the popular anime My Hero Academia is set to premiere in just a few months. Fans are thrilled to reconnect with their beloved characters and see the next chapter in the clash between heroes and villains.
Season 6 concluded with several major battles left unfinished, raising speculation that season 7 may pick up where those fights left off or perhaps introduce entirely new confrontations.
One of season 6’s most dramatic reveals was unmasking the fiery villain Dabi as Toya Todoroki, the long-presumed dead son of hero Endeavor. Toya was tragically injured in an accident when he was younger.
Believing his family had abandoned him, the newly christened Dabi devoted himself to revenge against Endeavor and the Todorokis.
In a fleeting moment of anguish, Dabi shed bloody tears, likely a painful consequence of the same accident that had scarred him so long ago.
The rich backstory provided for Dabi and the Todoroki family promises to fuel continued drama and character development in the new season.
Fans eagerly await to see how these revelations will impact the plot and relationships moving forward.
The Heartbreaking Origins and Vengeful Path of Dabi
Years ago during a tragic forest fire, Toya Todoroki (who later became the villain Dabi) was severely burned and presumed dead by his family, including his father Endeavor. However, he was actually rescued from the flames by All For One, the powerful supervillain.
Unfortunately, while All For One saved Toya’s life, he could not completely heal all of the boy’s injuries. Specifically, the extreme burns destroyed Toya’s tear ducts, leaving him unable to cry actual tears in the present day.
This explains why when Dabi appeared emotional in a later chapter, he cried blood instead – likely from internal bleeding related to his old wounds.
Dabi’s bloody tears also symbolize the deep frustration and pain he still feels over his abandonment and perceived betrayal by his family during that fire. While it seems to have been a terrible misunderstanding that the Todorokis thought him dead, the damage was done.
The embittered Toya discarded his old identity, becoming the villain Dabi and devoting himself to revenge against Endeavor.
This devastating backstory came to light in Chapter 290 when Dabi hijacked the nationwide television network to denounce Endeavor as uncaring and negligent of his eldest son, ultimately leading to the child’s fiery disfigurement.
Dabi aimed to destroy his father’s heroic reputation in the eyes of the public – vengeance for a lifetime of perceived misery and resentment toward his family.
The Rise of Dabi and the Haunting Legacy of Endeavor
My Hero Academia chapter 301 began unraveling the origins of Toya Todoroki, the eldest child of Endeavor who would grow up to become the villain Dabi.
Toya inherited his father’s powerful fire quirk, displaying even greater potential than Endeavor. His flames were hotter, and many believed the young Toya could one day surpass his father as a hero.
Initially, life seemed happy for the burgeoning Todoroki family. Toya’s mother Rei gave birth to more children in hopes he wouldn’t be lonely. His sister Fuyumi was born, manifesting only their mother’s ice quirk.
However, things took a turn after the arrival of Shoto, when Endeavor became obsessed with training him to defeat the #1 Hero All Might.
Endeavor started neglecting his responsibilities as a father and husband, ignoring Toya in favor of Shoto. Craving his beloved father’s approval and attention, Toya began dangerously overexerting his quirk, repeatedly returning from the forest injured after training alone.
But the more damage Toya incurred, the more praise he received from his father.
This cycle continued until one fateful day when Toya’s unstable flames raged out of control, incinerating huge swaths of the forest. All that remained of the young boy was a single charred jawbone.
Search teams presumed Toya’s demise, leading the Todoroki family to grieve the loss of their son and brother.
When Toya finally awoke, All For One manipulated the child’s trauma and resentment, convincing him that he had been abandoned and forgotten by his family. This exploitation of Toya’s emotional wounds set the stage for his eventual transformation into the villain Dabi.
In a later chapter, while lounging and cursing his relatives, Dabi sheds bloody tears – a condition medically known as haemolacria.
Since his tear ducts were destroyed in the same fire that had once nearly killed him, these tears were actually blood from internal bleeding related to his old burns.
