In the previous chapter, Ivor openly shared his true feelings with his friend Talon. This admission has left readers eagerly anticipating how Talon will respond when the two reunite in the upcoming The Priest Dreaming of a Dragon Chapter 20
Upon regaining consciousness, Ivor surveys his battered body to find that all of his bones are shattered. Talon informs him that there is still some residual dragon blood polluting the water. Ivor replies that his broken body will simply fall apart if left as is much longer.
Seeking to reassure his injured companion, Talon advises Ivor to remain patient as the healing effects of the magical waters will soon restore his bones.
However, after enduring such a lengthy submersion, Ivor’s drenched clothing leaves him feeling awful. Talon offers to fetch him a fresh set of clothes.
Too feeble to dress himself, Ivor asks Talon to carefully clean his body since he is unable to bend his elbows. Examining Ivor’s smooth, fair skin, Talon argues such measures are unnecessary for one so unsullied.
But he gently scrubs Ivor’s back at his friend’s request. Soon, the once blood-tainted waters run clear again, signaling to Ivor that his body has fully absorbed the powerful dragon blood.
Recap and Review
Ivor was surprised to learn that the precious gift of a dragon’s blood could profoundly transform someone. He had not expected his friend Talon to use such a prized commodity just to save his life.
This was now the third time Talon had rescued Ivor from grave danger. Meanwhile, the Divine Sword Knight finally managed to rouse Ivor’s unconscious friend after repeatedly calling out to him.
Upon opening his eyes, Ivor’s groggy friend immediately removed the Divine Sword Knight’s helmet covering his head. Puzzled by this odd behavior, the Knight wondered what would prompt his action.
In his disoriented state, the Knight assumed Ivor’s ravenous friend must have taken off the helmet, expecting to find food underneath somehow. Since it was clear the poor man was quite famished, the Knight generously offered him some leftover bread to eat.
However, instead of accepting the food, Ivor’s friend proceeded to bite down hard on his own cheek. The stunned Knight quickly reminded the confused man that he himself was not the meal. He then carefully fed the bread to Ivor’s grateful friend and provided him with some water to wash it down.
The Divine Sword Knight wondered if this strange fellow was born with an eternally stoic expression, as his face betrayed little emotion. Since the man was clearly still famished, the Knight suggested they head into the village to get him some hot, hearty food.
However, instead of getting to his feet, Ivor’s friend simply fell back into a deep sleep. With no other choice, the Knight hoisted the slumbering man onto his back and carried him all the way to a nearby hotel.
After finally awakening from a long nap, Ivor’s friend was shocked to spot the Divine Sword Knight in his room tending to a wound. Jumping to conclusions, he assumed the Knight must have been dispatched by the church to capture him.
Spoilers and Expectations
The Knight was quick to correct this assumption, explaining that he had come in pursuit of the devil king, not Ivor’s friend.
He went on to detail how he discovered the man locked away and transported him to the hotel to properly recover. Expressing surprise, the Knight realized the poor fellow retained no memory of any of these events.
Ivor’s friend declared he was aware that the church had secretly aligned themselves with the very devil king the Knight sought.
Since the Divine Sword Knight had clearly stated his purpose was to confront the devil king, Ivor’s friend reasoned the Knight must not be aligned with the conniving church after all.
