The supernatural romance anime is based on Kureha’s light novel series and is now streaming internationally on Crunchyroll, making it easy for global fans to watch the latest episodes.

A Supernatural Romance With a Unique Twist

The Ogre’s Bride follows Yuzu Shinonome, a high school girl who has always lived in the shadow of her older sister, Karin. While Karin is chosen to become the bride of an ayakashi, a powerful supernatural being, Yuzu never expects her own life to change.

Everything changes when Reiya, a powerful ogre from one of the most respected clans, chooses Yuzu as his bride instead. His unexpected decision sets the stage for a romance filled with family conflict, supernatural traditions, and personal growth.

The anime is based on Kureha’s light novel series, which first launched on Starts Publishing’s Novema! Platform in 2019. A manga adaptation illustrated by Jun Togashi debuted in 2021 and later topped Noicomi magazine’s annual readers’ poll for girls’ manga in both 2022 and 2023.

The Creative Team Behind the Anime

The anime is directed by Kazuhito Ōmiya at Colored Pencil Animation Japan. The production also features series composition by Yumi Kamakura, character designs by Hikari Tanaka, and music composed by Masaru Yokoyama.

Ahead of the July premiere, the production team introduced the main staff alongside a new promotional video and key visual, giving fans a closer look at the anime’s art style and cast.

Together, the creative team aims to bring Kureha’s popular fantasy romance to life with expressive animation, emotional storytelling, and a soundtrack that matches the series’ supernatural setting.

ClariS and Ikusaburo Yamazaki Perform the Theme Songs

The anime’s opening theme, “Hitokoto” (“A Word”), is performed by the idol duo ClariS. The song became available on digital music platforms shortly after the anime’s television debut in Japan.

The ending theme, “Shinboshi,” is performed by actor and singer Ikusaburo Yamazaki. Both songs were announced before the series premiered and helped establish the emotional tone of each episode.

With ClariS opening each episode and Yamazaki closing it, the anime features two well-known artists whose performances complement the series’ blend of romance, fantasy, and drama.

Cast, Streaming, and the Creditless Videos

Saori Hayami voices protagonist Yuzu Shinonome, while Yūichirō Umehara plays Reiya Kiryūin. Manaka Iwami joins the cast as Karin Shinonome, alongside several supporting voice actors.

The anime is currently airing on Japanese television and is streaming internationally on Crunchyroll, allowing fans around the world to watch the supernatural romance series as it releases.

The newly released creditless opening and ending videos give viewers an uninterrupted look at the anime’s animation and theme songs. Beyond promoting the series, these versions let fans fully appreciate the visual direction and musical performances without on-screen credits, making them a popular addition during the anime’s early broadcast run.
