“Ghost in the Shell” is set to return with a new series from Science Saru, the studio behind “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.” While many remember the iconic ’90s cyberpunk film directed by Mamoru Oshii, it differed significantly from Masamune Shirow’s original manga, which was both sillier and raunchier.

Science Saru’s adaptation, scheduled for release in 2026, promises to stay closer to the manga’s style, as evidenced by the art in the teaser trailer.

This new project has sparked excitement due to Science Saru’s history of producing unique and engaging works. Although details are sparse, fans eagerly await more information.

Until then, the studio has other exciting projects, including “Dandadan,” an anime showing the existence of ghosts and aliens, and “The Colors Within,” a visually stunning film directed by Naoko Yamada of “A Silent Voice” fame. With these promising ventures, Science Saru continues to be a studio to watch.
