Based on Akane Shimizu’s original manga, the film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters in December 2024. “Cells at Work!” originally charmed readers when it was serialized in Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius from January 2015 to January 2021.

The series, which was later adapted into an anime by David Production, aired two seasons from July 2018 to February 2021, spanning 21 episodes.

Described by Crunchyroll as a tale about the inner workings of the human body, the story highlights the daily struggles of its 37 trillion cells.

These include the oxygen-carrying Red Blood Cells and the bacteria-fighting White Blood Cells, all maneuvering a reality within the body.

The live-action adaptation promises to vividly bring this interesting narrative to the big screen, offering viewers the drama and excitement of the human body in a different way. With Mei Nagano and Takeru Sato leading the cast, the film is expected to deliver a visually stunning and engaging cinematic experience.
