Recap
In the previous chapter of The New Empress, Haniel flies down to the forest, where she sees her precious staff, which was given to her by her master. Haniel changes into her human form and grabs the staff, but soon, she realizes she can’t really turn back into a bird since she needs to assimilate the staff’s powers first.
Basically, she completely forgot what her teacher had told her, and now she was stuck in the middle of nowhere in her human form. Suddenly, an arrow comes hurtling toward Haniel, who casually dodges it, but of course, it is concerning since she is basically surrounded by demons.
They are very nervous, trying to protect their empress and Leona from the poisonous arrows of the demons. Haniel feels bad looking at it, and she decides to go out and maybe help them a little. However, for obvious reasons, the people are very cautious of her when she steps out.
Haniel tries to smile and bring their guard down, which works pretty well since they realize she is probably also being chased by the Demons. However, her regal appearance and luxurious clothes made her a bit suspicious, especially for someone who was supposed to be getting chased by ruthless demons.
Well, the demons finally appear, and Haniel shows off her demon-killing skills by fighting them with grace and agility. The knights get scared of Haniel, asking if she is an assassin, but the Empress calms them down. She asks Haniel to come with them to the next town where they are headed.
