The Lovers is a new David Ireland romantic comedy about two very dissimilar people who at first clash but inevitably fall in love with one another.
These two individuals are political broadcaster Seamus, played by Johnny Flynn, and the foul-mouthed grocery employee Janet, played by Roisin Gallagher.
Frankie, played by Alice Eve, is Seamus’s lover, while Philip, played by Conleth Hill, is Janet’s boss. In the program, Conleth Hill plays Janet’s boss, and Alice Eve plays Seamus’s girlfriend. They both have supporting parts.
When it comes to everything, including her own life, Janet, a brash, obnoxious clerk at a grocery store in Belfast, doesn’t give a damn. The humorous political broadcaster Seamus, on the other hand, seems to lead a nice life in London, complete with a famous girlfriend.
But it is understandable that their first meeting is a little rocky when Seamus unexpectedly enters Janet’s life by landing in her backyard. They find a peculiar attraction that defies reason.
At first appearance, these people seem to be the complete reverse of everything their mothers had forewarned them about. Drama Republic, in collaboration with Sky Studios, produces The Lovers. David Ireland, an award-winning writer, wrote the script, and Justin Martin, a BAFTA winner, is the director.

Plot Of The Show
Six-part television series The Lovers centers on Belfast shop employee Janet, who doesn’t give a damn about anything, not even her own life. Therefore, she really shouldn’t give the dashing political broadcaster Seamus any thought when he climbs into her backyard.
He is, after all, egotistical, appears to lead the ideal life in London, and has a celebrity girlfriend named Frankie. The two are diametrically opposed to one another, yet for some reason, they seem to be irresistibly pulled to one another, demonstrating how occasionally love may appear in the most unexpected of places.
Johnny Flynn plays Seamus O’Hannigan in “The Lovers,” and Roisin Gallagher plays Janet Dunlop, the couple’s leading lady.
