Nintendo has taken another small step toward the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake by updating the game’s official website with its ESRB rating.
While the publisher has remained largely quiet since announcing the Nintendo Switch 2 remake during June’s Nintendo Direct, the new rating indicates development is progressing and has fueled speculation that a more detailed reveal could be coming soon.
The remake has received an E10+ (Everyone 10+) rating from the ESRB. That matches the Nintendo 3DS version released in 2011, which was also rated E10+, while the original Nintendo 64 release carried an E (Everyone) rating.
ESRB listing offers a small but notable update
According to Nintendo’s official listing, the remake received its E10+ rating due to “Animated Blood” and “Fantasy Violence.” One notable difference compared to the Nintendo 3DS version is that “Suggestive Themes” no longer appears in the ESRB classification.
Nintendo has not shared additional gameplay details alongside the rating. However, the company previously described the remake as featuring
“stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay”
while confirming a release window of 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.
Although an ESRB rating does not confirm a release date, it often signals that a game is moving closer to launch. Industry observers have suggested Nintendo could showcase the remake at an upcoming event such as Gamescom or the Tokyo Game Show, where more gameplay and release details may be revealed.
Some reports have also speculated that Nintendo could target its traditional November launch window, potentially placing the remake alongside other major holiday releases. However, Nintendo has not confirmed a release date, and any timing beyond the announced 2026 window remains speculative.
For now, the ESRB listing is the clearest indication yet that one of Nintendo’s most anticipated Switch 2 titles remains on schedule.
