Unnecessary delay in the historical drama called The Last Kingdom owes credit to marketing strategies of Netflix. You log onto any social networking website, and all you see is the fans of The Last Kingdom who are looking for the show to be aired ASAP on the digital giant. Netflix, from now onwards owns The Last Kingdom. So it gets to decide when the show airs and how it airs.
For specific genres of programmes are specific dates set? For example over the summer of 2018, we saw the release of a number of rom-com and movies. Now, what’s left for fall 2018? To establish a pace of things, The Last Kingdom and other shows like Voltron, etc. will be aired later this year.
Now we know how The Last Kingdom wasn’t doing really well for Season 2. By the end of Season 2, BBC2 (Network on which it previously aired) ended up canceling it. The sole responsibility fell into the hands of Netflix, the former co-producer to The Last Kingdom. And boy, did it step up! Now that The Last Kingdom is entirely in Netflix’s hands, we have to remember that in order for the show to stay, to make a difference and for it to be renewed to Season 4 onwards, Netflix has to give it a unique airspace. So fans of The Last Kingdom, the show’s delayed because delayed gratification is always the best and not because there’s no progress on the show. Yay!
