The Killing Vote is a thriller mystery drama directed by Park Shin Woo. The drama is originally adapted from a popular webtoon of the same name “Gukminsahyeongtupyo” by Um Se Yoon and illustrated by Jung Yi Pum. The webtoon has gained 130 million views on KakaoWebtton making it one of the most popular webtoon among locals.
The story of the drama deals with a mysterious being named Gaetal (Dog Mask), who creates a phone app where he takes votes from the public on whether to put any criminal to death or not and it actually works. The criminal gets killed by the anonymous method whenever the public votes for them.
The cast line-up is making the fans more crazy about the drama. The main cast includes Park Hae-jin as Police investigator Kim Moo-chan, Park Sung-Woong as Kwon Seok-jo, a prisoner who killed the rapist of his younger daughter and lastly the rising actress Lim Ji-yeon as Joo Hyeon who is a police officer at cyber bureau.
The Killing Vote: Preview (Spoilers)
The killing vote introduces Park Hae-jin as an experienced Police Investigator named Kim Moo-chan, who works as the head of Team 1 at the regional investigation unit of the Southern Provincial Police Agency.
On another hand, Lim Ji Yeon will be playing the role of Joo Hyun who has five years of experience as a deputy in the Cyber Security Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. However, she always gets praised for her dedication to work but still, she always walks on eggshells while working in Cyber Investigation Team.
Park Sung Woong will appear as respected legal expert Kwon Suk Joo, who is loved by people for his honesty and just warrior character. But he gets behind bars for killing the rapist of his younger daughter.
Even after he is a prisoner, people still respect him and his colleagues even regard him as a professor. Suk Joo after spending his time as a prisoner realized one thing that law never exist in real. No matter what he used to be a law professor but after seeing his daughter getting injustice he took law in his hands.
Amidst this, an anonymous app gets installed on the phones of all the citizens above 18. They will receive messages via app on polling whether to kill a criminal or not and if more than 50% of people votes in favour, the criminal will be killed by an unknown fictional embody called “Dog mask”.
The law will now be in the hands of citizens of the country to punish the criminals. But police must chase after whoever this “Dog Mask” is responsible for the mass killing. In this case, after the Dog Mask three people get involved, Moo-chan, Joo Hyun and Suk Joo.
