Food Network’s most loved series yet, The Great Food Truck Race, has premiered with yet another season this year. This latest season 16, titled “David Vs. Goliath,” had the contestants competing in Los Angeles, which is infamous for being the worst place for a Food truck operator.
The Great Food Truck was first seen on August 15th, 2010. Soon enough, the series became one of the most popular shows to air on Food Network due to its unique concept. The popularity of this culinary competition led to new installments being released every year, each having its unique twist.
This series combines survivor-style shows with food trucks, where a group of three contestants would have to travel to various places in their food trucks and serve the tastiest food they can come up with.
The group that manages to collect more money and good reviews moves forward in the competition, while the team that collects the least is eliminated. The final winning team is provided with either $50,000, $100,000, or a brand-new food truck (Depending on the season).
Tyler Florence has been the host ever since The Great Food Truck began airing its episodes. Season 16 has four veteran teams competing with five new teams. All of the contestants are culinary professionals.
The Great Food Truck Race: Filming Locations
Seven or more teams are taken in each season, with them being assigned a single city each time. Places like Malibu, Long Beach, Beverly Hills, and many other places have been featured on The Great Food Truck Race until now.
For the latest season of this Food Network show, a total of 9 teams will be seen in the competition. The main filming spot for The Great Food Truck Race, for now, is in Los Angeles.
Since they’re in a special city that’s known to be filled with all kinds of celebrities, their dishes will be judged by infamous celebrity chefs, baseball players, and other well-known people.
Los Angeles, California:
Every episode will involve these teams moving throughout the city in hopes of selling the most amount of food. For the first episode, the teams arrived with their food trucks at Pershing Square, followed by Melrose Avenue and Echo Park Lake.
Pershing Square is a beautiful public park in Downtown LA that’s a perfect place for these food trucks to operate. LA is known as a bad place for Food trucks because the city is filled with all kinds of restaurants, Cafés, and other eateries. People often choose to go to these picturesque spots rather than just have their meals at a food truck.
With our contestants, this time being culinary professionals, they could change the mindsets of LA residents and prove that food truck food doesn’t have to be bad just because it’s inexpensive.
Another spot they move to is the Woodland Hills. This mountain-filled area is known for its collection of fine dining places, so our contestants could have a tough time operating here.
The food trucks then shift to the Grand Park, where the contestants desperately try to attract more amount of people. To their dismay, the park is not very filled at the time of the challenge, so they try their best to make do with the few people there. This park is located in the Civic Center of LA and was first developed in 1966.
Another location in The Great Food Truck Race season 16 is the Ballast Point Brewing Company, which was seen to be located in Long Beach, California.
Long Beach has a high population, so it was a good opportunity for the culinary chefs to give their best performance. Lying in the Southern part of Cali, Long Beach has some of the most amazing city views at all times of the day.
Besides having one of the largest universities, Long Beach also hosts entertaining events like the Grand Prix and festivals. The Ballast Point Brewing Company offered a good place for the contestants to work on a dish using a special alcoholic beverage.
LA turned out to be a better place than they had imagined, as some of the teams have had amazing results no matter what place they were sent to.
At present, The Great Food Truck Race Season 16 is available to watch on Prime Video.
