The first season of The Good Bad Mother had its finale episode on 08 June 2023 (Thursday) after a month-long story that explained evolving relationships, their effects on personal lives, grief, revenge, crime, and the opportunity to undo wrong deeds. Thus, one cannot quickly get the genre of this Netflix series.
Actors such as Lee Do-hyun and Ra Mi-ran made the series stand out of the box. Moreover, the presence of Ahn Eun-jin was like a cherry on the cake. The series started on 26 April 2023 and had only fourteen episodes.
The ratings of the first season of The Good Bad Mother increased with every episode in Seoul and throughout the nation. For instance, it was only 3.588% for the first episode and 12.032% for the final episode nationwide. Similarly, it was 4.166% for the first episode and 13.604% for the last one in Seoul.
Lee Do-hyun played Choi Kang-ho, Jin Young-soon’s son and a prosecutor, who met with an accident and suffered from amnesia. Ra Mi-ran played a single mother, Jin Young-soon, who ran a pig farm and did not hesitate to protect her son at any cost.
The love triangle between Choi Kang-ho (played by Lee Do-Hyun), Lee Mi-Joo (played by Ahn Eun-jin), and Bang Sam-shik (played by Yoo In-soo) added some spice to the series.

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Recap
Ha-young confessed that she drugged Kang-ho with sleeping pills which caused his accident. Then, she disclosed her father’s secrets, and her father said that she was mentally ill. Hae-sik died because of Ha-young’s father, Tae-soo, and Woo-byeok.
Kang-ho brought the son (who was assumed dead) of the former employee of Tae-soo, Soo-hyun, to the court. A DNA test revealed the truth. Worried for her baby’s safety, Soo-hyun killed herself after hiding her baby. Meanwhile, Woo-byeok, Tae-soo, and other corrupted ones got arrested for planning the murders of Kang-ho, his mother, Hwang Soo-hyun, her child, and Choi Hae-Sik.
Young soon knew that she would soon lose her battle with cancer. However, she used the opportunity to pour her heart out when the whole Jou-ri village attended her birthday party. She gave her and her husband’s rings to Mi-joo and Kang-ho and asked them to love each other like every moment was the last.
Young-soon died on Kang-ho’s lap when he sang a lullaby. The story leaped, and the viewers saw Mi-joo and Kang-ho looking at Kang-ho’s mother’s wedding album. They also found a letter that his mother had written before dying.
Young-soon apologized to Kang-ho for all the bad deeds she did while raising him through the letter. She also wished to be a better mother in an alternate world where she would appreciate his drawings and love him unconditionally. Kang-ho proposed to Mi-Joo and brought a pig to hand her the ring, just like his father did to his mother (Young-soon).
The Good Bad Mother Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
It is rare to see a K-drama returning with a sequel, though the industry keeps improving. However, Taxi Driver and Dr. Romantic are exceptions because they were successful, and the show makers got encouraged to keep going with another season.
The cast and crew members of The Good And Bad Mother did not hint at another season as it did not get written accordingly. We saw a change in Young-soon throughout the first season.
Similarly, we witnessed her illness, death, her apologies to her son, and Kang-ho’s settled life at the end. It was a complete story. So, we do not need one more season to complete anything though the lead actors’ performances make us crave more.
Young soon turned into a good mother from the bad one in the first season. So, even if the writers write The Good Bad Mother Season 2 on public demand, we would like a prequel showing Young-soon’s struggles and the reason behind her change from a good person to a bad mother.
In the case of a sequel, we would like to see the characters from the first season getting involved in another mystery. The series may have some more connections to the first season in the second one.
