As the latest The Ghost in the Shell TV anime continues airing in Japan, the production committee has revealed new details about its upcoming original soundtrack. Fans can now get their first look at the album jacket, complete tracklist, physical editions, and streaming plans ahead of its September release.

The soundtrack brings together an acclaimed trio of composers—Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka—whose combined experience spans award-winning anime, films, games, television dramas, and live performances. Alongside nearly 50 original tracks, the release also includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes discussion detailing how the music for the new anime was created.

Two-disc soundtrack arrives in September

The Ghost In The Shell O.S.T. will be released on September 9, 2026, as a two-disc CD published by FlyingDog Inc. The album is priced at 3,960 yen and features a newly illustrated cover by tarou2 of Science SARU. First-press editions will include a premium 7-inch record-sized paper sleeve with foil stamping, while fans will also receive a 17,000-character conversation between Iwasaki, Konishi, and Kanesaka discussing the soundtrack’s creative process.

A two-disc vinyl (LP) edition will follow on September 30, 2026, priced at 7,700 yen. The LP features a curated selection of music from the complete soundtrack while retaining the new jacket artwork.

THE GHOST IN THE SHELL – 4th Key Visual

In addition to physical editions, the soundtrack will launch digitally on September 9 across major streaming and download services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, LINE MUSIC, Deezer, AWA, Rakuten Music, KKBOX, Qobuz, iTunes Store, Recochoku, and mora.

The soundtrack is led by Taisei Iwasaki, who also serves as the anime’s music director. Iwasaki is widely recognized for composing music for Belle (Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime), which earned the Japan Academy Award for Best Music, as well as projects including Blood Blockade Battlefront, Spriggan, The Naked Director, and First Love.

Joining him is composer and multi-instrumentalist Ryo Konishi, whose career includes serving as music director for the 2025 Osaka World Expo opening ceremony while producing music for artists such as Mrs. GREEN APPLE, King & Prince, Chara + YUKI, and TOMOO. His work blends jazz, classical, funk, pop, and electronic music into a distinctive cross-genre style.

The third composer, Yuki Kanesaka, is based in Boston and works internationally as both a composer and assistant professor at Berklee College of Music. Anime fans may recognize his contributions to Dr. Stone, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Snowball Earth, while his broader portfolio also includes commercial music and game projects.

Full tracklist includes nearly 50 original compositions

The newly revealed tracklist spans 46 tracks across two CDs, beginning with “The Ghost In The Shell feat. Lanux” and concluding with “Heavenly Suite Op.4 – Aria della Vida.” Other notable pieces include “The Last Firewall,” “Ghost In The Dark,” “IKARI,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” “Tracer,” “LateX,” and multiple movements from the Heavenly Suite collection.

The soundtrack reflects the anime’s cyberpunk atmosphere by combining orchestral compositions, electronic arrangements, and experimental sound design, creating a musical identity that complements one of anime’s most influential science-fiction franchises.

With new artwork, premium physical editions, worldwide digital availability, and contributions from three celebrated composers, The Ghost In The Shell O.S.T. is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s biggest music releases in recent years.
