Nintendo has revealed a diverse lineup of independent games for Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch during its October 28, 2026, Indie World Showcase. The presentation featured everything from relaxing life simulations and colorful pixel-art adventures to chaotic multiplayer games, roguelike combat, and cooperative horror experiences. Several titles are scheduled to launch before the end of 2026, while others will arrive throughout 2027.
Among the biggest highlights were Witchbrook, the witch-themed life simulation game arriving in January 2027, and Spirit Crossing, a collaborative life sim launching in November. The showcase also confirmed release dates for games such as RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition and Sword of the Sea, while introducing the action-adventure Winds of Viridia.
Nintendo also announced several free demos for games including Haunted Paws, Petal Runner, RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition, and Winds of Viridia. With cozy adventures, multiplayer chaos, and more demanding action games represented, the showcase offered a broad look at independent games coming to Nintendo’s consoles.
Nintendo Indie World Showcase Highlights Upcoming Switch 2 and Switch Games
The October 2026 presentation focused on independent developers creating experiences across several genres. Players looking for relaxed exploration can look forward to Witchbrook, Spirit Crossing, and Slime Rancher 2, while those interested in action can explore Tenjutsu, City of None, and Winds of Viridia.
The showcase also highlighted multiplayer games built around cooperation and competition. Dumpster Gang lets players control raccoons on scavenging missions, while Super Battle Golf turns a round of golf into a chaotic contest for up to eight players. Horror fans can look forward to R.E.P.O., which combines cooperative item retrieval with physics-based gameplay and dangerous enemies.
Nintendo confirmed that some games will launch on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, while others are exclusive to the newer console. Petal Runner, for example, is a Nintendo Switch 2 console exclusive, as is Spirit Crossing at launch. These distinctions are important for players deciding which upcoming indie games they can play on their current hardware.
Witchbrook, Spirit Crossing, and Other Cozy Indie Games Get Release Dates
One of the showcase’s major highlights was Witchbrook, the magical life simulation game from Chucklefish. Players take on the role of a new resident witch in the seaside town of Mossport, attending Witchbrook College while building relationships, making friends, and potentially finding romance. The game supports online play for up to four players and launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2027.
Spirit Crossing, from Spry Fox, the studio behind Cozy Grove, offers a different kind of community-focused experience. Players build lives above the clouds alongside lost spirits, other humans, and small bears, working together to restore connections between worlds and fight magical storms. Home customization and social activities are central to the experience. The game launches as a console exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2026.
Fans of creature collecting and exploration can also look forward to Slime Rancher 2. Players return as Beatrix LeBeau and explore Rainbow Island, where they can discover new slimes, gather resources, and build a ranch in a conservatory overlooking the island. The game is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2027.
Another cozy adventure, Bao Bao’s Cozy Cleaning Services, launched for Nintendo Switch on October 28. Players control Bao Bao, a panda who cleans colorful pixel-art environments, either alone or in online co-op for up to four players. Its soundtrack features more than 50 original songs.
New Action Adventures and Roguelikes Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
The showcase included several games for players who prefer combat, exploration, and challenging gameplay. Tenjutsu, developed by Deepnight Games and published by Devolver Digital, is a top-down roguelike brawler set in Secret Garden City. Players control a renegade criminal fighting to dismantle powerful crime syndicates, using melee combat, weapons, and martial arts techniques. The game is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
City of None, from Extremely OK Games and Noel & Liam Berry, is a new action and puzzle-platforming adventure from one of the co-creators of Celeste. Its metropolis contains five sectors with distinct environments, playstyles, and four-color palettes. Players will explore winding pathways, battle enemies, collect rare resources, and upgrade equipment. The game is planned for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in 2027.
Winds of Viridia, developed by Shark Jump, was newly revealed during the showcase. Players control a child awakened from a seed and set out to restore balance to a fallen civilization. The adventure combines running, sliding, grappling, aerial movement, exploration, and combat, with a mothbug companion assisting along the way. Its soundtrack features composers Kevin Penkin and Christopher Larkin. The game is scheduled for Nintendo Switch 2 in early 2027, and a free demo was announced for October 28.
Another new adventure is Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino, from room6. Inspired by Japanese folklore, it follows a fox girl and her frog companion as they explore a mysterious island under the cover of darkness. Players must light shrines to reveal routes and uncover secrets while avoiding oni demons. The game launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in spring 2027.
Sword of the Sea, from the studio behind ABZÛ and The Pathless, takes players across deserts, glaciers, and shimmering seas on a magical Hoversword. Its central goal is to restore a lost ocean while exploring the mysterious Necropolis. The game launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29, 2026.
The showcase also featured Threads of Time, a turn-based RPG in which heroes from different historical eras unite to stop a threat to the past, present, and future. With pixel-inspired visuals, a story-driven campaign, and more than 100 original songs, it is scheduled for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in summer 2027.
RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition and Multiplayer Games Lead the Mayhem
RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition brings coin-pusher arcade gameplay into a roguelike format. Players combine special coins and powerful items to trigger combinations and chase high scores, choosing from eight characters with individual coin types and playstyles. The Nintendo Switch 2 version includes an exclusive arcade cabinet skin and supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. It launches on November 10, 2026, with a free demo available on October 28.
For players who enjoy chaotic online sessions, Dumpster Gang lets up to four players control raccoons who scavenge dumpsters, steal junk, raid snacks, and complete ridiculous missions while avoiding an Exterminator. Players can customize their hideout with the items they collect. The game supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and GameShare, and launches for Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027.
Super Battle Golf takes a competitive approach to multiplayer. Up to eight players race to complete each hole while using weapons, power-ups, and other tricks to disrupt their rivals. The game features colorful courses, golfer customization, simultaneous online play, and cross-platform competition. It arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 25, 2027.
The showcase also confirmed that R.E.P.O., the cooperative horror game from semiwork, is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Players must retrieve valuable objects from haunted locations using a physics-based grabbing tool. Since items range from fragile ceramics to heavy pianos, careful coordination is essential when dangerous enemies are nearby. Procedurally generated levels also mean that each run can offer a different experience.
Two more unusual games featured in the presentation were My Arms Are Longer Now and Haunted Paws. The former is a comedic heist game in which players stretch an unusually long arm through vents, windows, and other spaces to steal items. Featuring 48 characters voiced by Australian comedians, it launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on March 11, 2027. Haunted Paws, meanwhile, follows two puppies searching for their missing human through a haunted mansion. It supports two-player local and online co-op and launches on both consoles in May 2027.
Petal Runner and More Indie Games Announced
Petal Runner, from Nano Park Studios and iam8bit Presents, is a coming-of-age adventure set in a solarpunk open world. Players follow Cali and her sidekick Kira as motorcycle couriers delivering digital pets through detailed pixel-art environments. The game is a Nintendo Switch 2 console exclusive and launches on March 8, 2027. A free demo was announced for October 28.
The additional games montage offered more variety. Everything is Crab, an evolutionary roguelite, launches on Nintendo Switch on January 26, 2027, alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with enhanced performance and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Owners of the original Switch version can upgrade to the Switch 2 game for free.
Finding Polka, a hand-drawn interactive adventure about finding a dog resembling a beloved former pet, is planned for Nintendo Switch in spring 2027. Floor Plan: Slap Out Of It!, an escape-room-style puzzle adventure, is also scheduled for both Switch systems in spring 2027.
Snowboarding fans can look forward to HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate, which supports local split-screen for up to four players and online races for up to eight. It launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in early 2027. Lost and Found Co., a hidden-object adventure starring Ducky, launches on both Nintendo Switch systems on November 10, 2026, as a timed console exclusive. Its Switch 2 Edition supports mouse and motion controls, as well as local co-op for up to four players.
Finally, TANUKI: Pon’s Summer arrives on both consoles on November 10, 2026. Players control Pon, a tanuki working part-time at a post office while delivering packages, participating in activities, making friends, and restoring a shrine ahead of the Great Tanuki Festival.
Free Demos Available for Four Indie Games
Nintendo confirmed that free demos for Haunted Paws, Petal Runner, RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition, and Winds of Viridia would become available through Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Store on October 28. These demos give players an opportunity to try the games ahead of their full releases.
The showcase also highlighted how varied the upcoming indie lineup will be. Players can attend a magical college in Witchbrook, explore a solarpunk world in Petal Runner, battle crime syndicates in Tenjutsu, or work with friends to retrieve objects in R.E.P.O. The release schedule stretches from October 2026 through summer 2027, with several games arriving on both Nintendo Switch systems and others targeting Switch 2.
