The events that led up to it were nothing short of odd, but they were a nice change of pace. Moreover, it isn’t every day that you see a normal guy trying his best to woe someone from high society.
The concept of a noncontender character (based on looks alone) trying to woe the high-member female lead is peak comedy. It would be different if he would hit the gym and be in shape, but that was not the case. Hence, the comedic nature of the actions wasn’t done in the void; it was to display the male lead’s possessiveness.
That was the cute moment of the story and one of the few that mattered in the end, anyway. Funny how the story played it, though; it didn’t have much relevance, given the characters involved, and will be forgotten not long after. But, having moments like these is important as a package of low-level fan service to keep the readers interested.

The Fake Duchess In Distress Chapter 24 had the male and female lead attend the town now that it is revitalized. It was all thanks to the optimism and idealism of the Duchess that that town became what it is now. A sight that the male lead thought he would never see, given the history of the town.
Monazart (child of Mona Lisa and Mozart maybe?) recalls what the life of the town had been all this time. If it were not for the fake Duchess acting as a queen to restore her dignity, it wouldn’t have been this way. Simponia offers that she didn’t do anything special; if she hadn’t grown up in a better world and been thrown out, it would have never come to this either.
And then, we get another moment of Simponia being mesmerized by the male lead. The male lead gases in the distance as if looking at an unseen scenery that only he could see. The look of lost eyes made her blush (as usual), and she stayed quietly by his side.

The little competition will continue in The Fake Duchess In Distress, Chapter 25, as Monazart will see that he is the top dog. It was hinted in the last chapter that he has a bit of abandonment issues due to his father’s death.
His father died an indignified death despite living a life of dedication to the lords of the snow-covered country. Before meeting Simponia, he was a man filled with revenge, a bloodhound wanting to take revenge, but his anger is tamed now.
Now, he wants to improve to quality of life (or QoL) of the citizens by bettering the city. However, he also wants the attention of the new queen, who has come to change things for the better.
It isn’t clear how much Monazart knows about Simponia’s true intentions, but the reveal later should help on that ground.
