OSEN’s recent report confirms that SBS’s “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” has wrapped up filming and is now in the post-production phase. Lead actress Hwang Jung-eum completed her filming obligations in mid-March, marking the completion of all production activities by the end of March.
“The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” serves as the second season of the series, following its predecessor’s conclusion on November 17th last year. Notable cast members from the previous season, including Um Ki-Joon, Lee Joon, and others, returned for this instalment, which premiered on March 29th.
Despite the anticipation surrounding the drama, fueled by writer Kim Soon-ok’s reputation from the “Penthouse” series, “The Escape of the Seven” has faced challenges in viewership ratings compared to concurrent dramas like “My Dearest”. Attention shifted to “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection”, promising compelling storytelling and emotional depth.
However, concerns arose even before its premiere, exacerbated by lead actress Hwang Jung-eum’s news of divorce. Addressing the issue at a press conference, Hwang Jung-eum expressed regret over the potential impacts on the production team, emphasizing the distinction between personal matters and professional commitments.
As the drama searches through external challenges, including public scrutiny and competing dramas in the same time slot, viewership ratings have been less than ideal. Initial episodes saw a decline from 4.4% in the premiere to 2.7% in the latest episode, reflecting ongoing difficulties in attracting audiences.
“The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” continues to air every Friday and Saturday at 10 PM, with its future performance in ratings prompting questions about its potential for a rebound in popularity
